Good luck Beth,

Try and stay positive, miracles do happen. Here is to a BFP on 1/10!!!!

Hang in there, don't get too looney.

IUI is done

Hiya . . .

I had the IUI done yesterday (12-27) and am now officially in the 2-week

wait. It's my first 2ww since July!

But things could have gone better this time; I don't have a high hope of

success. First of all, I ovulated 12 hours *before* the insemination. This

is not generally a good thing; you want the sperm there before the egg makes

her entrance. The follicle was on my old workhorse left ovary again, but it

was only 17 mm in diameter, after having popped and reinflated.

And the OB couldn't get the cannula in my cervix very well. I still have

the double internal os, and that gave him trouble. Hard to say where the

sperm went.

And my ovaries looked really awful on US! I have PCOS and never did have

very many cysts on them, but yesterday they were looking pretty classic. A

classic PCOS ovary looks as if it is wearing a necklace of black pearls--the

tiny cysts that give the syndrome its name. But the doctor says that as

long as I am ovulating regularly and spontaneously, I am sitting pretty, and

not to worry. Maybe the pregnancy and the two ensuing abnormal cycles

caused this. *shrug*

So January tenth, (a due date and a surgery date for two of you) will also

be the day I take the evil pee stick test and get my negative result,

hee-hee.

It doesn't really matter if this month doesn't work . . . I'm just happy to

be back in the game!

Hi Beth. Sounds like you are dealing with so many challenges - yet

you still sound upbeat - that's wonderful. And, you never know!!!!

Maybe you'll get lucky. I will hope that you do. But, it's good to be

realistic as well. I know - it's hard!

Welcome back to the game and best of luck to you!!!!!!

Hi Beth,

Waiting seems to be the biggest part of the game, doesn't it. It

would sure be great if we could know right away and move on.

I will also be trying IUI shortly. Actually, I'm in the midst of my

own waiting game. I am off of chlomid this month, due to the process

of diagnosing the bu. If I don't get my period by New Year's Day, I

will be checking to see if I'm getting my miracle gift. I have been

praying for this.....as most of us do. I am holding my breath.

Anyway, if the preg test is negative, I'll be beginning IUI in Jan.

Any info you can give me on your experiences with IUI would be great.

Good luck and may you receive your miracle gift this round!!

,

Thank you for the fertile thoughts!

I have had 15 IUIs . . . you get to liking them after a while, LOL.

Just kidding. Usually they hurt no worse than a Pap smear. The real

pain is timing one right, and also paying for it. For ladies like

us, there is also the matter of getting the sperm into the right horn

(whichever side the egg is at). I have heard of REs' using

ultrasound to guide the cannula, but mine prefers to go low tech and

just bend the teflon introducer. That method has worked once that I

know of.

You should probably be able to do anything you want on the day of

your IUI. You really only need to lie still until any uterine

cramping subsides--usually 5-10 minutes. My husband and I sometimes

BD (even though he has no sperm) on the same day, just to say that

the baby was conceived in an act of love. Sometimes that works out

well. :-)

Oops . . . hope that wasn't TMI (too much information). It probably

was, LOL. There is a really good IUI FAQ at www.fertilityplus.org/

If you just scroll down the table of contents, you'll find it.

Wishing you luck,

Beth

My " real life fertility buddy " (not online) had a successful IUI last

summer-I believe it was her fourth-and her Re did recommend pretty much lying

around for a few days following. it just made her feel better, I guess. (Just

another thought on that topic)

She's the only pg person it's not hard for me to look at because I know she's

been through as much as me.
