Sure! I feel that way all the time! I've not gotten to the point,

yet, where I can look in the mirror, and not be critical of what I

see. I always see the " fat " . :-?

But, I also know I'm doing something about it, so it won't be like

this forever. I know that I looked a lot better last year, when I

was really diligent about putting the principles into practice, and

I dropped 25 lbs. So, I know I can be there again. But, I'm not

stressing about it until Christmas is over. There's just no

point. ;o)

Praying you'll see the positives! ;o)

Sure, I feel this way sometimes. I believe that every single person

has days like this...not always about weight.

Here's something to consider. Do you think your disappointment could

be a result of unrealistic expectations? Are you expecting the weight

to come flying off at some kind of quick pace? If you hold onto these

expectations or only hold onto the long term goal of weigh less, you

can continually be setting yourself up for disappointment and more days

of feeling like a failure. An alternative is to come up with realistic

expectations that you can and will acheive on a daily basis. Make

goals things like " drink plenty of water today " or " only eat this one

meal until my hunger is satisfied " ...small goals. After a while,

success at realistic small goals gives you momentum towards the long

term goal. Little milestones really work to keep you feeling

good...and feeling good helps you reach the long term goal....just like

feeling bad can delay the long term goal. For many of us, just

thinking about the end, long term goal is not enough to keep us

motivated...it always seems so far away.

I feel this way a lot. I think I am feeling thinner but when I actually look at myself all I see is lots of weight. I have learned not to look at myself too much. I have never liked my pic taken or to look at myself in the mirror. I have never been able to undress in front of anyone....even my husband when I was married. I made him have the lights off or not look. I know that is silly but that is the way things have been for me. I am trying desperately to get over that. Just take time to relish the feeling that you are doing what you need to do via IE. Keep working at it and your body will follow suit. Don't let that get you down. Keep your head up. I have just joined this group and have been trying Intuitive eating for

about a week. I deal with the same issue because I have so much weight

to lose, and on past diets, yes I could lose weight fast, but I would

always gain it back faster! Sometimes I try to focus on something that

I like about myself when I have those destructive thoughts , or think

of the person I am inside, and that I am changing my behavior and

relationship with food, and my body will follow. The negative thinking

about my fat usually puts me in a panic mode, and into " diet "

thinking. I like what amytherrien had to say about daily goals that we

can achieve. I will be working on that. I'm on the journey with you.

We can learn and change. I'm stuggling with changing my thoughts also,

so your post really helped me. Julz

, At the risk of sounding wierd, those thoughts are your old patterns of thinking fighting for life. Whenever we change something, the old way fights really hard to stay alive. So, when you are changing your thinking patterns to be more self loving and self empowering, your old negative ways are going to come up more often, as if they are trying to stay dominant. The best way to handle it is as if you were handling a young child who was saying something wrong. You know how young kids get. "I hate Timmy. He's stupid." "No, honey. Timmy's not stupid, he's just not in the second grade like you are. He's only in Kindergarten." So for you it might think, "I hate my thighs. I'm such a fat pig." Then, you replace the thought with a kinder one. "No, . You are a wonderful person. You are curvy and beautiful, and love life to the fullest." What I am realizing is that we won't look better on the outside until our negative thoughts on the inside change. Everytime you have a negative thought, replace it with something loving. Eventually those old patterns of thinking will fade away to almost nothing. It's a process, . Be gentle on yourself. PS: I find that my nasty voice comes out when I am feeling insecure about something else. Men, generally, tend to focus on money when they feel insecure, and women focus on their bodies.“I fear one day I'll meet God, he'll sneeze and I won't know what to say.” Ronnie Shakes __________________________________________________

Oops. Just realized that was not the original poster. Sorry! That's what happens when I write before I'm awake.“I fear one day I'll meet God, he'll sneeze and I won't know what to say.” Ronnie Shakes __________________________________________________

You have to actively work on changing your self-talk. Ask yourself, " What's

the proof that I will NEVER lose this weight? " Obviously there is no proof.

Tell yourself instead something like, " Yes I CAN lose this weight. I'm

working on eating intuitively and I WILL lose weight when I no longer

overeat. "

I feel that way ALOT...and I have to just keep telling myself to use

that disgust as motivation and to realize that I didn't gain all the

weight overnight and it will take patience to watch it come off!

Keep sticking with the program and you will see results, at least my

friend is and that is motivating me! GOOD LUCK!!!

i feel that way too--and lately quite a lot. during those times, i make a point to remind myself of the good progress i have made in the last four weeks, and that makes me feel a bit better. i know i will not drop all 43 lbs i need to drop over a short-period of time (and lately my clothes feel a bit tighter) so i tell myself that what is important is my long-term goal -- have good physical, emotional and mental health. during the times that i don't feel at all hopeful, motivated or inspired about reaching my long-term goal, i visualize myself already there--i do this visualization as often as i need to--it has made a big difference and, at the very least, it helps me get over intense negative moments, which although don't last very long seem to come up often lately. i figure as long as i'm honoring my body, my emotions and my thoughts one step at a time i am doing just fine!!!hang in there, and remember we are all hanging in there with you!!Cecilia >> I have had a great week of IE, and ive been happy in general. now, > tonight, i looked in the mirror and just thought "wow, i'm so fat. its > disgusting. i'm NEVER going to lose this weight" and my good mood and > hope were both gone instantly. all i want to do is lie on the couch > and eat right now because i am so fed up with my body when i stop and > look at it. Yes.

It is your way of thinking that you have to change. If you did

well with your I E for the week, meditate on that and mentally give

yourself high fives. Say things to yourself like, " I'm doing a

good " , and keep repeating it.

Remember, it took you time to put on the weight, relax and it will

come off if you keep listening to your body.
