I have an uncle who is a zealot. He believes in

healing, speaking in tongues, etc. We cannot get

through a conversation without him asking if I know

Jesus as my Lord. (I am a Christian, but don't

believe in praying for God to heal my toothache, which

he has done). He told me just last week that he was

" puzzled " that Reagan (my daughter) got NF2 from me,

because he had prayed for her. He told me that he

prays for God to " heal me. " I told him he was wasting

his time.

As for the Jehovah's Witnesses- I just take their

Watchtowers and say I will read them, then close the

door.

Sounds like your uncle is in his own reality. You handled it well.

Hi Sally,

I find some of the JW's beliefs totally OFF the wall...I know there are many

many people that feel as we do...I just shake my head at times when I think

of them...They think there the only ones going to heaven and were not, thats

NOT true...I guess when it comes to that subject it can get me going because

I have worked with young kids that were forced to follow that and it was hard

to see..

There's actually a joke I read about this once

a Deaf guy and a hearing friend were speeding down the highway in his new

Porsche. The Deaf guy was driving and was speeding away, when soon a cop

appeared and pulled them over, the cop walks up and asks for License and

Registration, the deaf guy gestures to his ears and that he's deaf. The cop

gives him a stern look, points at the speedometer and indicates to slow down,

the deaf guy nods agreeably and the cop gets back in his car and leaves.

Pretty soon, the deaf guy is back speeding again and the whole incident is

repeated (with a different cop) , pretty soon the deaf guy says he's getting

tired and asks his friend to drive while he sleeps. So his friend takes off

speeding and what'd ya know? A Cop appears behind them. Well seeing how well

the act worked for the deaf guy, when the cop comes up to the car, the

hearing guy points to his ears and indicates he's deaf and the cop signs " No

Problem! My brother is deaf so I know sign fluently, your license and

registration please? "

That doesn't make him a zealot that just makes him a strong Christian. I have

had many people pray for me and over me. I do believe strongly that God can

and Does heal. Some he chooses not to because there is a greater purpose in

life for them. Before each surgery I get annointed and prayed over and have

came out each time better than the Dr's expected. I do get embarrased when I

feel like I have become the public spectactcle though. So I understand where

you are coming from . I still have faith God hears all my prayers and answers

them.
