Well I 've got my appointment for the PVA procedure. July 11th. With Drs.

phson and Zimetbaum at the Atrial Fibrillation Clinic, Beth Israel Deaconess

Hospital in Boston. When I have it done, I'll give you all the play by play of

the procedure.

Joe,

Welcome back.

Question?

Will you require a pacemaker?

Will the same Drs. perform the new procedure?

I hope all goes well.

The commute down 93 can be worse than the procedure!!!

Hello everyone. I good news/bad news. bad news is they went in to do

my PVA procedure and could not perform it. Good news is that after 5

years they found out that I do not have atrial Fib. I have AV nodal

tachacardia. Which come to find out is alot easier to cure with an

ablation. I am going in on July 8 to have an av nodal ablation.

Evidently they were inside me for 4 hours trying to figure out where

the arrythmia was coming from. All my EKG's showed what looked like

AFIB. What a surprise for them to find out that I am having

tachacardia. My av node is sending 2 beats to my ventricles instead

of 1. I am told that they have a high success rate of curing this and

I will start my research asap. If there are any members with any

experience or info on this would be appreciated. The technical term

is AV nodal re-entry trachycardia.

thanks,

Joe

Hi Joe, I am sort of sorry to hear this but n the end it may be good news.

I would be interested in this as this is the first I have heard of this

conditon showing as Afib.

With a nodal abaltion what do they do and will this need a pacer.

Is this somehting white sndrome where you have another path.

Congratulations on progress, anyway. AV nodal tachycardia is a new

one on me, so I did some web grubbing and found that yes it seems to

be easily cured by ablation, and that it is hard to diagnose via an

ekg. I wonder why they didn't do the ablation for it since they were

in there anyway? Good luck on July 8th.

> Hi Rich, I will only need a pacemaker if they accidently ablate

both pathways (the slow and the fast). They are going to try to ablate

the slow pathway first. This is one of the risks in performing this

procedure (about 1 out of 1000). Overall it's about a 90-95% success

rate. I will have the same doctors for this procedure. Looking for

some of that good old boston Irish luck!!!

thanks Joe
