Guest guest
Just an update as to how a Chapman's surgery to remove the acoustic neuroma and Cochlear Implant went this past week. We spent most of the day Tuesday having test and getting admitted to the hospital in Raleigh N.C. They came and took her from the room around 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 29th. We were updated all day long and it was a long day. The doctors finally came and talked to us around 9:30 p.m. We don't think they actually started the surgery until around 11:30 a.m. DR's. McElveen, Fukushima, Friedman and Dr. Hitselberger performed the surgery and they all advised it was a success. The facial nerve was left in tact but was thin. She continues to improve each day but will remain in ICU until at least Saturday, April 1st. The Cochlear Implant actually was one of the new 21 channel models that just was released. We hope this will give her more chances of hearing. She will not have a magnet above the ear. They were all pleased with the outcome and we are eager to get her home and start the recovery process. This is being sent on behalf of a by her husband and two children. We have been camped out at the hospital and motel right across the street from the hospital. We have a lap top so we are keeping in touch with everyone back home in sville. F.Y.I. Van, and .. Keep your prays coming for a
Guest guest
I would like to know--you mentioned her doctors, Fukishima and HITZELBERGER?? Is this the same neurosurgeon that operates with Dr. Brackman? Or someone with the same name? Hope things continue to go well. marie a Chapman > >Just an update as to how a Chapman's surgery to remove the acoustic >neuroma and Cochlear Implant went this past week. >We spent most of the day Tuesday having test and getting admitted to the >hospital in Raleigh N.C.
