Hi ,

I am currently 35 1/2 weeks along in my pregnancy & have been having

the same rhythmic " thumping " that you have been experiencing. I

first thought that they were kicks & was surprised at how evenly

spaced & constant they were. I now agree with the others that they

are hiccoughs.

I had my GBS test last week. And, my OB's comment was that it was

just routine & if it's positive, no big deal.

Regarding the frequent USs... I have had numerous USs (probably 8 to

10) taken; although not to measure my cervix length. They don't have

any inherent dangers to the baby - although I think he was a little

annoyed during a few of them as he became very active afterwards.

And, I think the every 2 weeks is common at your stage for measuring

the cervix. I also remember reading that some women (especially

first timers) experience some shortening of the cervix during the

second trimester. So don't be surprised if you do see some variation.

Good Luck!!

I don't believe the u/s's will hurt the baby. I am glad you are being monitored

so closely and I bet you love seeing your little one so frequently.

frequent U/Ss

Hi again!

Thank you to everyone that has responded to all of my

prior questions...One more thing I forgot to ask is I

have had U/Ss every other week since week 12 to

monitor the cervix length (so far I have consistantly

measured right around 3.5 every time). Are these U/Ss

dangerous? Are you guys having this many too? - I

think they are common practice among us lucky MA

chics. I am 27 weeks now and I think I am going to

keep getting these every other week until

delivery...does this sound right?

Thanks!

I too had very frequent U/s's during my pregnancy. I went in twice a month from

14 wks until I was 24wks and then I had to go in for U/S plus fetal non-stress

testing. My doc just wanted to keep an eye on the growth of the baby, my

amniotic fluid levels as well as they wanted to see how the right horn of my

uterus would react to the preganancy. It was awsome...I have so many pics of

Matt before he was even born.

<<How often and what weeks did you have the U/Ss

combined with the NSTs?>>

I began having U/S along with the NST's at about 25 wks. Mostly because Matt was

measuring small for gestation and I was starting to show signs of preeclampsia.

I went in twice a week for the U/S and NST and then once a week to see my OB.

<<What did they say about the right horn? They say my

left horn (which baby is in) just pushed the right

horn out of the way.>>

That's pretty much what happened with mine as well...we never really discussed

my uterus, my OB was just curious as was the U/S Tech so they just kept an eye

on it. They were mostly just checking on fluid levels.

Hi Faith.

How often and what weeks did you have the U/Ss

combined with the NSTs? I wonder if that is what they

plan on doing for me too? Well see.

horn out of the way.
