I cant tell you specifically what it is in composites that is nasty but I will

relay this story to you.

Back in 1985, I went to a DDS here in town. I had a loose filling (amalgam)

and he said it and the others should be removed. he didnt explain why at the

time but he took all of them out (even had a bridge and mask on me when he did

it) except one in the back. I didnt think anything of it till this year when I

found out about thimerasol and the mercury issue. I just went back to him last

month and thanked him and asked if he'd remove the last back filling...

He immediately spouted off what sounded like a pre rehearsed statement about

silver fillings being " safe " according to the ADA and then mentioned some

about the dangerous elements in the composites. I dont recall what he said was

in it that was unsafe. So I asked him if I should have the composites removed

instead. I dont think he was ready for that response and he hesitated and said

" your fillings are fine and your teeth are in good shape " and turned me over

to the nurse. Its a shame because 15 years ago I know he felt different about

it.

I cant find a DDS around here to do it safely.
