Why are you choosing Dr. Forse? I have never heard of him before? Has

anyone on this list gone through surgery with Harvard Pilgrim? Maybe that

would be a good angle to approach the whole process.

I have Harvard Pilgrim and I will be going to Beth Israel Deaconess for my surgery with Dr Mun who is with Dr Blackburn's office. I had to change my PCP to get the referral. My PCP now is Dr. Wee and she is wonderful as well as Dr Mun who I also find very good. Let me know if you want any more details!

LOTS of people had Harvard Pilgrim pay for their surgery--me for one.

I used Dr. Thayer at Newton WEllesley Hospital, and he was (is) awesome.

Make sure that whatever doc you choose has a comprehensive program-support

groups, nutritionist, psychologist, good follow up care etc. At least

one of the local docs does NOT have a program. They just do the surgery

and set you free. That is not good.

good luck! Kim in plymouth

I just had my surgery a week ago, and I have Harvard Pilgrim. No problems

getting approved. The surgeon I had was Dr Randall at Lawrence Memorial

Hospital.

I am not having problems with the Insurance Company (not yet anyway), I am

having a problem getting my own PCP to give me the referral itself to see

the surgeon. he says that he can't because he can't refer to boston unless

there is an emergency or not other services out there. Where he is located

in haverhill, there isn't an obesity clinic or someone to do the surgery, so

if I want I can go to see a nutritionist, or change PCP's. I have decided

to change PCP's since my own is actually a pediatrition and I should

probably have an adult doctor that is closer to home anyway. i live in

Lynn, so Haverhill isn't exactly a walk around the block for me.

I have been seeing him since I was 15, so I didn't want to leave him. My

daughter will stay with him anyway so I guess we won't be missing him. I

figure also, that this is probably his gentle way of kicking me out to see

an adult doctor. After all, I am 25 so I suppose it is about time anyway

hehehe

Thanks

I cannot remember which one....but I know there is at least one.

There is someone at Lawrence Memorial who doesn't have support, and another

at a boston hospital. I WISH I could remember...

Hi Steph,

The only Dr. at Lawrence Mem Hosp that performs this surgery is Dr. Randall, and he does offer support meetings once a month (every 3rd Wed of the Month), at the Law Mem School of Nursing located and attached directly to the hospital.

Hope this helps a little bit!
