Guest guest
Debbie... Did you get the kind with the P5P in it? If so, the P5P is the activated form of B6 and it says you can give at least 3 times as little with the same results as a B6 dose. I give Sev the Super Nuthera and it has 200mg of B6 and 25 mg of P5P per two tablespoons...that's the dose I'm giving Sev right now. So if they're research is correct, what I'm giving him is equivalent to at least 350 mg of B6. The trial I had was just the B6 and I was giving him 400 mg of it. Hopefully this makes sense. It truthfully think I noticed better things with just the B6 (not the P5P), but It's too soon to tell. They explained that the P5P is the product once the B6 goes to through the liver and it is what the body actually uses. Planning on switching to it soon. Does anyone on any of these lists use it, and how much do you give? Nate weighs less than 50 lbs., and the recommended dosage for him only contains 25 mg. of B6!! I thought this was the stuff they used for mega-dosing autistic kids, and I can't find any information on giving him lots more than required. He's currently getting 300 mg./day of B6 (plus what's in his multivitamin) and I don't want to go DOWN!! What's up with this, anyone know? Post me directly at nater@... because I am still not managing all my mail. Hubby is home, however, thank God. Will continue to research this. He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings. And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD. Guest guest
Got my Kirkman Labs stuff right here. Two Nu-Thera Hypoallergenic capsules has only 50 mg. of P5P -- no additional B6. Maybe this is why we're all confused. . .the difference between this stuff! So -- how many mg. of B6 would 50 mg. of P5P translate to (sorry - -I have no brain for math)? 's getting one capsule right now and I thought that meant we were giving her 25 mg. of B6. . .actually, I was kind of hoping that was the case because we're having some seizure problems right now -- an average of one/day -- which I'm hoping is withdrawl now that we're off the med. . . but it's been over a week.--D *** Subject: Re: Nu-Thera questionDebbie...Did you get the kind with the P5P in it? Guest guest
DE... The Kirkman's site says that the P5P translates into 3 times and possibly as much as ten times the amount of B6. Under this understanding, 50mg of P5P would be the same as at least 150 mg of B6. I really think I saw better results with Sev when I had the sample of nuthera with just the B6...not the P5P. I'm going to ride out this bottle, but then I'm going to get more samples of just the B6 Nuthera before buying the next big order. We'll see...Nan Oh...I know you are praying that this little seizure spat goes away...just know I'm praying with you. Going med free is always a test...you never know if they are going to need the med (or something) back. We got Sev med free once, but had to add back the small dose of pheno we are on now after 6 diastat days in a row. I added back as little as I could! I'm down two mls in this new wean and I'm taking it SUPER slow...no drops for this month as we are going on vacation again. I'll be praying that it's just withdrawals... ride it out and see! Guest guest
Okay. . .now I'm getting it. . .just checked out their web site again and saw that the Hypoallergenic Nu-Thera only comes with the P5P. So. . . I guess I'll finish this trial and still stick with my plan to supplement with additional B6. I think you had mentioned that you're using the Super Nu-Thera liquid, right -- and that you weren't worrying about the carbs. Guess I'd probably need to check that out if I'm thinking of switching. I guess that means that 's currently getting about 75 mg. of B6 -- so, perhaps that's not enough to see a difference. She's having like one complex partial seizure/night that wakes her up. She comes into our room and I wake up to this heavy swallowing sound. She's talking to us -- and obviously walking across the house to us -- and then she falls back asleep. This is atypical -- so I'm hoping it's just withdrawl. . .but, keep praying and I'll do the same for you and Sev! Have a good vacation!--D -----Original Message-----From: nanett prausa Sent: Monday, July 02, 2001 12:38 PMTo: ketogenic Subject: RE: Nu-Thera questionDE...The Kirkman's site says that the P5P translates into 3 times and possibly as much as ten times the amount of B6. Guest guest
I called Kirkman Labs last week with the same question. They told me that P5P converts to B6 at a 5:1 ratio. So 50 mg of P5P=250 mg of B6. Sandy, 's mom Re: Nu-Thera questionDebbie...Did you get the kind with the P5P in it?
