Guest guest
Penny, I'd say to just let her pick them herself. Even if they are above or below her level. used to bring home books on skyscrapers and maps/countries. brings home books on dinosaurs, bugs, spiders, scorpions, etc..,but he does sit and read them! Guest guest
's school library does the same thing. He either gets books with one word per page or books way to complicated for him. They know he reads at a grade 3 level. Why is choosing a book so hard? We're reading Captain Underpants at home right now. He reads a chapter to me every night. Tuna More complaining - Not off topic Jacqui has library once a week. Last week she brought home " Dr Seuss' ABC's " . I probably don't have to explain to you guys why this concerned us. I sent a note back to her teacher hoping that someone could assist her in choosing an appropriate book. Well, TODAY she comes home with...get this: CHESS FOR KIDS!!! by Basman, Internationl Master. I'm about ready to just say to hell with it all.... oh, on a positive note, Jacqui had her first Social Skills training today. :-D Penny " Reality is always controlled by the people who are most insane " Dogbert - 6/14/
Guest guest
Well Salli - I do believe this book would be appropriate for YOUR kids!!! :-D I actually caught myself this morning thinking about where I could get a chess set, chess table and a couple of nice chairs, and actually teach Jacqui to play chess. That would be cool, no? Guest guest
Bethany constantly brings home inappropriate books. I would talk to the librarian. Often, their library time is their teacher's break or conference time. I talked to Bethany's librarian, and she helps Bethany pick out more appropriate books. She brought one home this week about NASCAR! I love that. Guest guest
Penny, Jake brings home Spanish encyclopedias. I'm not sure if he reads them, but he does look at them. I do know that he is teaching himself Spanish from the computer. The kid's going to be bilingual but unable to carry on a conversation in any language.
