I was never diagnosed untill I was 23 or so.However, the tumors, weakness cafe-au lait marks make me the brunt of many creulties. It didn't help that I was also insecure because my dad was nuts, and I was staight, and dint think jumping in someones pants was right. It didn't help either that I had no idea why i was different. Hang in there. Please don't go for some jerk because he takes a intrest in you . Be carefull hon, because even thou you feel like *hit, your'e not! You have a good heart, and deserve someone who loves you for you, not the crude chemical/protien covering your bones. Remember Helen Keller, a remarkable person. Now not to be on a soap-box, but I have met and known a lot of people, and only a handfull are worth anything.Most are selfish, egotistical a- holes. Get to appreciate yourself. Your talents, and such. (are you good with kds?) are you a good speaker? by becoming one with our own selfes and loving our selves and our morality and values will show. Again, ive been there hon- no girl freinds the whole time in school, and no real freinds,just be pateint. When, where and how did you meet the love of your life? I only ask, because for many of us youngans (and even some of the older ones), it seems to us that we're going to end up dying without ever having found our Love. I know it's not easy for anyone, at any age Have to tell you that your note made me cry - not an easy thing when you have a dry eye. You are right, that it is not easy at any age. I'm pushing 50, and find myself at times mourning the loss of the life that I thought I had planned for myself and my husband. I also find myself distressed over the fact that I may have passed this on to my two children. I do know that there is nothing that I can do to change things, and that now 7 years after having been diagnosed with this disorder, I'm slowing learning that even though things are different, there are still many things about life that I can enjoy. And if I look around myself, I can usually find others in situations that I would find impossible to deal with. So about the only thing that I can tell you, is be patient with yourself, and you will probably find that this depression is a cyclical thing that comes and goes. I KNOW THAT WHEN I FOUND OUT I HAD NF2 IT WAS OVER 8 YEARS AGO, BUT TO BE HONNEST WITH YOU ALL I HAD KNOW IDEA WHAT NF2 WAS. MY MOTHER HAS IT, AND I ALWAYS THOUGHT THAT SHE WAS WORSE CASE, UNTILL I CAME ON HERE. WHEN I FOUND OUT I HAD IT, I CRIED FOR DAYS, AND NOW THAT I LOOK BACK I HAD KNOW IDEA WHY I WAS CRYING UNTIL JUST LAST MONTH WHEN I JOINED THE CREW. I HAVE HAD MY GOOD DAYS AND I HAVE HAD MANY BAD DAYS, THE KIND THAT YOU DON'T WONT TO GET OUT OF BED. I AM LUCKY AND I HAVE A VERY SUPPORTING BOYFRIEND, BUT IT IS STILL HARD, I SOMETIMES FEEL LIKE DEPRESSION IS MY MIDDLE NAME, KEEP A SMILE ON YOUR FACE!!!!!
