If I'd never gone to the coffee shop in the first place, I never would've even thought about or missed the cupcake, but because I saw it, I started imagining it. *** I can totally relate, Kate -- I'm the same way. I see a can of Coke (or an ad for one), or a chocolate donut (or, just about *any* donut for that matter!), or whatever, and I want that food/drink NOW! Doesn't matter if I'm hungry or not. Most times I'll go ahead and buy the thing, but tell myself that I am *NOT* going to eat (drink) it until my body is actually hungry (thirsty) for it. That seems to work okay. Then I'm giving myself *permission* to have the thing, but I'm keeping it within the proper boundaries. NO FOOD is forbidden ... as long as you only eat when you're truly hungry, and you stop eating when you're satisfied.
