Guest guest
Cheryl -- I just don't think blanket generalizations work here. What you say is true -- for some people. Not for everyone. I think we need to be careful to acknowledge that. Think about it --- I gained weight on 1500 calories a day. I was eating about 4 meals a day -- so that averages out to 375 calories per meal. I was *not* eating past satiety. I was barely medicating my hunger. I looked forward to bed just so I could have a little respite from the hunger, only to wake up in the middle of the night, fantasizing about food. By morning, I was famished. So I'd medicate the hunger... and go around and around like that every day. Finally, I realized this was not IE. So I started eating enough to reach real satiety. And I gained more weight. But I don't stuff myself. I just don't. I eat until it feels good. Good enough to go several hours without that constant ticker tape of food obessions running through my brain. I actually get a little peace during the days now -- during waking hours!!!!! I just want people to know that there is not just " one " path to intuitive eating -- because we don't all start out from the same place. You clearly started out from a much better place than I did, and I envy you -- I really do....... > >> > It is my belief that the reason people gain weight at the beginning > is because they listen to the " eat whatever you want " part and not > so much to the " only when hungry and stop when satisfied " part. > <snip> > IE is not just about eating what you want, it's doing it between the > boundaries of hunger and satiety also.
