Guest guest
http://www.nps.gov/pore/naturescience/nonnativespecies_deer.htm I am sending a link about fallow deer; when I post after we have had our day, I will send the photos of the elk, and of the black-tailed deer; we usually see bush-bunnies, coyotes, mountain lions, and all of the above as well, and the most increditble ocean views and soon the southern passage of the whales, spouting. Today, my friend E. and I got started late as I slept in--way in--but we finally got going, and went out and sat in my car, Marco Polo, aka my large wheelchair, and watched the dogs and people at a huge dog park not far from E.'s home. Then E. decided to treat me to dinner at a rather charming place in Berkeley. I do not think that we lost any weight! By then it was dark and we parked Marco Polo down near the Berkeley Pier (of and wife Lacey Rocha fame) and just waited. Sure enough, the gophers, rats and really entertaining racoons came out! The racoons spend a lot of time "dining out" in the local trash con tainers and crunching away. Then we drove back closer to the Pier to watch the birds, the Night Herons on the rails of the pier; they are terrific, and always are watching the water for fish, thus leaning over and peering. Tomorrow, we are going out to see the Elk at the Point Reyes Penin sula in Marin County, at the Reserve at Tomales Point. Above are some elk photos for you.
