Guest guest
Crew Josh once asked if a women would be interested in a relation ship with a guy with nf2.I don't know about ALL women, but I'm batting 0 for 3 this year. 1.I asked my friend,Hillary, of 9 yrs out.We have flirted for along time. Ah,Her reply " well I don't know, how long do you have to live " Well,in the end she decided no,cuz I'm a walking dead man. 2.I met this girl,,on aim.She does not live that far from me(40min).She kept asking to meet me.I figured I should clue her in alittle on my health. So then she stopped asking to meet. One day I asked her " why you never ask to meet me anymore " Her answer, " to behonest,I'm afraid to meet you,I wouldn't know how to act around someone like you,I might offend you " .Lucky I didn't tell her ALL my health problems, she might have left the country. 3.Today,feeling fiesty after Hooters,I asked my friend of 9 years,Janelle, out. Her reply, " but jimmy your dying " . I'm sticking to crewbettes(nf2girls).Although I got an offer once to try cyber sex with some guy. Jimmy

Guest guest
Hey Jimmy, You sorta have to hang in there. I met my wife after I had NF2. She has met a lot of people with NF2 since and does not see it as a major problem. Actually, NF2 is a 'major problem' but I guess it depends on how you look at it. Keep your chin up and I'm sure you will find a lovely young lady. You are " handsome " right?? Guest guest
Hi Jimmy, I get a lot of " why aren't you smiling " questions too. I think it's better that people ask that instead of sit back and assume all kinds of strange things. When someones asks me, I say that my deafness is caused by a problem on the hearing nerve. Unfortunately, the facial nerve is very close so when my hearing nerve was damaged, so was the facial nerve. I think most people appreciate the explanation because they think smiling just occurs naturally. We know it does not of course so they learn something new. I think it's a good idea to avoid the word " tumor " at first. That word does scare people. Perhaps because it's often associated with " cancer " . I generally wait till I know a person fairly well before I mention tumors. In general, I think it's better that people ask questions. It may not be a good idea to try and give all the details in one sitting. Whatever happens Jimmy, best of luck in meeting the right woman! ---------- From: Jimmy Sent: Saturday, March 18, 2000 6:03 PM To: NF2_Crewonelist Subject: Re: Maybe I should switch to men and all I have been ditched,on im,when I tell the truth, soooooo many times that I now lie BIGTIME.I have assumed my sisters identity(minus the husband:).Ah,yes,I'm A graduate of OSU,and I'm currently a social worker foe people with substance abuse problems. After that I wing it,only truth about myself is my name.Well,so far I've met three young women. Not only do they stick around, but I'm also a " nice guy " , " thankyou for talking to me " , " your picture is niiiice:) " .Ah,the usual replies(after giving little honest personal info) " I'm not interested " , " bye " , " why aren't you smiling " .So ,I have a question,is it morally wrong to lie to these folks.Sure lying is wrong, but all I'm looking for is ladies(Idont trust guys I don't know,I been hit on a few times)to chat with.I'm not looking for love or nothing, from complete strangers.I'm having great results lying like this, does anyone else totally lie about their health problems(or lack of) Jimmy P.S. ,I was thinking most men would hump a post,so I'd be better off going " that way " .Rest assured I was kidding.Ain't no way I'd give up on women,Bill Clinton will wat before " handsomeJimmy " UPS.I send around the picture on the crew web page to people i meet on icq. Guest guest
, When I'm asked the smiling question, I just open up with a big grin, and blink my one good eye! Then if they ask what happened, I give them the surgery explanation. Avoiding the word tumour is a good idea , I'll keep that one in mind. And explaining the deafness by saying it is a problem with the hearing nerve is a good idea too. :> I get a lot of " why aren't you smiling " questions too. Guest guest
HI FRANK, I LIKE YOUR EXPLANATION AND I TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU. PEOPLE GET SCARED WHEN THEY HEAR THE WORLD TUMOR AS IT IS OFTEN ASSOCIATED WITH CANCER AND DEATH. Guest guest
Hi , The word tumor is often associated with cancer and death as you point out. Family and close friend that know I have a tumor problem sometimes ask for an explanation. I tell them the doctors now think that tumors grow naturally in everyone but people have a 'tumor suppressor gene' that stops the tumors from growing. I am missing that gene. I find that helps people understand tumors a bit more and perhaps that even their bodies can have tumors (albeit too small to cause problems). HI FRANK, I LIKE YOUR EXPLANATION AND I TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU. PEOPLE GET SCARED WHEN THEY HEAR THE WORLD TUMOR AS IT IS OFTEN ASSOCIATED WITH CANCER AND DEATH. Guest guest
Hi , Glad you like some of these ideas. They basically came about from trial and error.... I made a lot of mistakes over the years.... , When I'm asked the smiling question, I just open up with a big grin, and blink my one good eye! Then if they ask what happened, I give them the surgery explanation. Avoiding the word tumour is a good idea , I'll keep that one in mind. And explaining the deafness by saying it is a problem with the hearing nerve is a good idea too.
