Guest guest
Well, diets do work for some people. A friend of mine who'd been overweight her entire life went on Weight Watchers at age 62 and lost 35 pounds in a very short time. She got a little weird about points for a while, but got over it. She's kept it off for over 2 years and doesn't obsess about whether or not she should eat a cookie. Diets only make me crazy, but for some people they work. > >I get so angry when I see someone else tell another person to find >distractions from their hunger, to have more willpower over cravings, >to workout a little extra to make up for an indulgence. _________________________________________________________________ View Athlete’s Collections with Live Search http://sportmaps.live.com/index.html?source=hmemailtaglinenov06 & FORM=MGAC01

Guest guest
, People use eating intuitively and use diets to form a food ally do not make me angry. I am upset by the comments of obsession. I realize that anger towards an invidual is misplaced. I am angry at the root cause that makes people choose obession of weightloss over health. The statistic that I have read is that 1 in 3 dieters will have this obession. I guess that is positive that 2 of 3 won't. :-) Amy > > Well, diets do work for some people. Guest guest
Well, my friend *was* obsessed for a while. She would figure out the points in EVERYTHING and resisted going to a restaurant if she couldn't find out the nutritional value of its food. She even counted points when on vacation in Europe. She spent a LOT of time hungry and used all the tricks of drinking tons of water, chewing gum, etc, but was very strict about staying within her points. These days, however, she seems pretty " normal " . I'm not sure how she made the transition from obsession to normalcy. I wish I could. > >People use eating intuitively and use diets to form a food ally do >not make me angry. I am upset by the comments of obsession. Guest guest
If this round of Weight Watchers was her first diet, it was probably very easy for her to return to normalacy. For one thing, of all the diets out there, Weight Watchers is the one plan that doesn't have any forbidden foods. In fact, they encourage you to not deprive yourself of foods you crave--as long as you count the points. They also encourage you to eat frequently so you don't get ravenously hungry. Unfortunately, many people who do Weight Watchers come from years of deprivation diets and don't believe that they can have pizza or chocolate or bread. It sounds like your friend used Weight Watchers as a tool to get the excess weight off and didn't absorb any taboos. > > Well, my friend *was* obsessed for a while.
