Guest guest
Sandi, I think the answer is probably different for different people. Have you kept track of the days when you have this ravenous hunger? Are they tied to certain hormonal cycles or certain gym activites? Are they tied to variations in your normal routine? I feel like you have to play detective for some of this stuff. When you get in this zone, is there something that distinguishes from your usual level of hunger? Is intensity the only difference or are there other differences in how you feel? Energy levels the same, emotional state the same? Maybe if you can distinguish this type of uncontrolleable hunger, you can design ways to deal with it specifically. Amy > > What causes ravenous, insatiable hunger? Guest guest
It used to happen a lot when I was on Ortho Tricyclen. It hasn't happened in relation to my cycle since I changed my birth control pills. It seems like my exercise class instructors have had it in for me this week. Monday's Turbo Kickboxing class was as intense as it always is. Tuesday's yoga class was really tough because the instuctor thought we'd want to work on our abs after Thanksgiving. The instructor for last night's Turbo Kickboxing class just whupped our butts. She had a piece of pumpkin cheesecake over the weekend and thought we all needed to work it off 5 days after the fact. Okay, it's now a little over 2 hours since I finished lunch. I'm still hungry (about a 7), but not as bad as I was an hour ago (about a 9). If I'm still hungry when I get off in 1/2 hour, I'll grab a bite before I do my errands. I just don't know what.
Guest guest
Sandi -- Eat. You are hungry, so eat. " A bite " is evidently not enough. Eat more than a bite. OK? You can blame me if this turns out to be bad advice. ;-) > > Okay, it's now a little over 2 hours since I finished lunch. Guest guest
Sandi, Are you overweight? I have this same problem but I am 60lb overweight and if I'm not losing that must mean I'm eating too much. My biggest problem has been prednisone which I may be on for the rest of my life. My hunger gets so bad I can't sleep and get nauseous. Recently I have started taking a fourth of a B6 pill twice a day and it seems to help. I've never considered myself an emotioinal eatier either. I just enjoy eating. But I do feel after years of dieting that I'd be a normal weight if I hadn't dieted even fasted. > > LOL! Guest guest
Good girl. And if you get back on saying that you ate a half ounce of grilled skinless chicken and a quarter of a carrot and you were stuffed, just stuffed --- I'm gonna kick you around the block! > > LOL! Guest guest
I just recently stopped dieting and I've been working out regularly. I dropped 32 pounds before I quit Weight Watchers about two months ago. I haven't gained any back, just fluctuated up and down the same 3 pounds. I'm not at the weight I wanted to be at, but I'm at a healthy BMI and my bodyfat is a healthy percentage. I'd be thrilled if I could lose my last 10 pounds, but I'm refusing to worry about it anymore. So, here's how the rest of the day went. After work, I went to the bank and to Macy's. I was going to get something after I picked up my presale item at Macy's, but the clerk took so long getting it, I had to rush out to pick up my son from basketball practice. On my way home, I realized that the insatiable hunger was gone even though I hadn't eaten anything. I did some exercise when I got home and was reasonably hungry by the time I finished fixing dinner. I had some pot roast that I had put in the crockpot this morning and some baby potatoes cooked in olive oil with bell peppers and onion. I was comfortably full after dinner. I'm starting to feel hungry again, but it's late and I'm more tired than hungry. I'll take my vitamins with a glass of milk and go to bed. > > > > LOL! Guest guest
I've been on prednisone before & it makes me feel like I haven't eaten for weeks. Good luck! > My biggest problem has been prednisone which I may be on for the rest > of my life. My hunger gets so bad I can't sleep and get nauseous. Guest guest
Does that mean that it wasn't really hunger...if it went away without eating? I think I would be reall confused if that happened. [sNIP] So, here's how the rest of the day went. After work, I went to the > bank and to Macy's. Guest guest
Gwen Shamblin used to say that hunger would go away and come back later and not to worry about it, just eat when it comes back because you would be ready then for sure. I quite often wake up really hungry early in the morning but don't want to get up yet so go back to sleep. I think I'm doing pretty good with IE but still not losing weight. It's discouraging and it's been at least 6 mo. since I started. Antenello who wrote Naturally Thin By Eating More thought that nighttime was probably when you lost weight on IE because you weren't aware of your hunger.
