Guest guest
Cindi Welcome to the list! We have a lot in common. Our boys have a similar loss although Miles has the severe to profound loss in his right ear and a profound loss in his left ear. I too started to suspect something when Miles was a year old and his speach wasn't developing. We did get referred to an ENT and audiology but, the sensory-neural loss was not discoverd until he was 2.5 and we went to a different audiologist because his speach wasn't progressing (no words only sounds and the sounds were diminishing). Then just recently the original diagnosis of a sloping loss was modified to a loss across all frequencies by again a different audiologist. He is now 4.5 and about to enter Kindergarten. His language is very delayed still and I was wondering how he would cope in school. Reading your post has reassured me that, if needed, it would be okay to keep him back a grade along the way. He is a very bright boy and I want him to be able to use his intelligence to the maximum of his ability.
