Guest guest
Hi, I teach Human Sexuality and have seen in textbooks over the last few years a consistent discussion of dilators for vaginismus (involuntary spasms of the vagina which make intercourse difficult or impossible. Pain is not necessarily the reason for this.) The texts all show dilators of various sizes, and the woman inserts the smallest when she is able, then gradually increases the size. It is a matter of desensitization, in a person who is presumably too " sensitive " to penetration. I assume that the PT who is having someone use these for VV also wants the woman to be able to tolerate increasing amounts of stretching.
