I don't know if anyone is feeling the same way but I am feeling a bit disheartened about some of the posts, like with the focus on how much weight and exercise people are doing in terms of losing weight. I started IE to get away from this obsession, particularly the losing weight thing and guilt at not doing exercise some days. How can you find the time to get in 2 hours of exercise in a day? Do you have a full time job and do you have a family? I just find I don't have those hours in a day. And I hate to take any time away from spending it with my son. I am a single mother and I get to see him so little as it is because I have to work and he has school that I hate to take any evening time away from him for my exercising. Michele wrote: Yea

Hi Adelaide--

I had the same sort of thoughts as you when I've read some of the recent posts concerning weight loss and exercise.

Many of us look to IE as a life line of sorts...a way to finally be free from hyper focusing on those sorts of things.

I think it is important to remember that we are all at different stages. Some have lost all of the weight they need to and are maintaining a comfortable weight for their bodies. Some are brand new to the whole IE process--and, if the truth be told, to them IE may just be another way to lose weight. Some of us carry an extra 15 or 20 lbs--not a whole heck of a lot, but enough so that we think about it all the time, obsess about it. Some of us have a lot of weight to lose.

We all say we want to be free of food obsession, free of the hold we've let our weight have over our lives. That sounds pretty terrific to me...and I can't wait until I am back there again. But, in reality, along with that I want to get this extra 15 lbs off too.

There have been a ton of new people who have joined recently. There are also a lot of seasoned IEers who we can all learn from.

As with anything, there will be some things that work for me and other things that don't. For example, I've never binged or purged, and don't really know what that must be like for someone who has. I just sift through and pick out what applies to me.

My excersise routine Mahellena is as follows:

M/W/Fri: 1 hour on elliptical , each day using a different program (ie strength,hill interval, cardio etc)

Sometimes 1.20 hours. Weight/resistance training for about 45 min to an hour on these days as well

Tu/Th/Sat: 1 hour on elliptical varying as I said the program

Sunday: Either off or lesser cardio work out such as 1/2 hour to 45 min.

It seems like a lot but keeps me happy and healthy and balanced

I am new to IE and just want to know everybody ideas and how everybody is doing. So this is my second day and I need to get to know everything I can to be successful. When I mentioned things about exercise or weight loss I did not mean to offend anybody at all. Like, 55 lbs. or so? Its hard to say since I weigh so seldom. I guess a more accurate way to tell you is that I went from an XL being tight and not able to wear to a size medium now. Also just the shape of my body is different, my butt has lifted, my breasts too :) Natural plastic surgery I call it! My arms are no longer flabby etc.

I have around 20 more to go I'd guess with how I look right now in my birthday suit. But I am no longer afraid to wear a swim suit. Now to just get to where I feel super comfy in a bikini !! I fill my clothes in differently now, it is so nice, that is why I love excersise so much, the benefits are so wonderful

Hi Adelaide,

Since my name is in the subject of this post, I felt compelled to

interpret your post below to mean one of my posts was too weight

loss focused. I apologize for that.

I am not trying to lose any weight. I am looking for a way to eat

and not feel guilty about it. I also have non-eating goals to run

distance races. I am finding it challenge to find balance between

my different goals, but IE is helping a lot.

I get up at 5:15am so I can exercise before my kids wake up. I don't watch

any TV so I'm in bed by 9pm to make sure I get enough sleep. We also usually

take a walk as a family after dinner. When my kids were younger I pushed

them in the stoller, but now even my 4-year-old will walk 45 minutes.

Just want to let you know that I think of IE as not being obsessed,

also. I do some stretches every day but not to lose weight. I just

want ot forget about eating and live.
