Re: Drinking and eating before weigh-ins

When I started program I was going to a 5:30 meeting and did tend

to eat lighter for that day.

However, due to schedule changes I now either weigh in on Thurs.

@9 or Sat @8:30.

When I go for morning weigh-in I usually don't have even water,

but then I've never been a big water drinker and somedays have to

work at drinking the minimum.

I don't look on what I do as good versus bad. As stated this is a

life-style so I act on what my body tells me, whether that is to

drink or eat, staying within my point range (most days)

Slow and steady is how it is working for me.

I weigh in at 4pm, so fasting is out of the question. I eat my normal

breakfast and an early lunch - make sure I get in at least a quart of water -

and then nothing after about 11:30. My body has plenty of time to eliminate

the extra fluid.

My weigh-ins are Wed at 9:30. I do eat a light breakfast & drink my

coffee before going. I used to try to not eat but I felt if I was

consistently eating about the same amount before the weigh-in, it wouldn't

affect the outcome of my weigh-in. It's like wearing the same pants every

week - which I also do ;-)

If I don't eat, I'm dizzy, unable to focus on the meeting, miserable and more

apt to stop at dunkin donuts on the way home.

My meetings are Wednesday evenings at 7:00pm. I always eat and drink my

water like usual including dinner before my meetings. I figure whats

the difference. It all balances out in the end. And you are right this

is a lifestyle change. Not eating before a weigh in or skipping a meal

is just as bad as binging after a meeting.

When I was doing WW meetings, my meeting was on Wednesday mornings at 10AM and I

wouldn't eat or drink before the meeting (I brought a water bottle or travel cup

of coffee). I didn't consider this " cheating " , anymore than banking Points early

in the week for an upcoming Saturday party is " cheating " . It was totally

planned -- I used my " banked " breakfast Points from before the meeting for a

healthy chirashi sushi lunch at my favorite Japanese restaurant after the

meeting.

Planning is planning, IMO.

I eat normally, but I wear the same clothes every week. I WI in the morning,

so I just wear the same T-shirt and exercise pants every Friday. That way I

get a better picture of my losses from week to week. Jeans are VERY heavy!

For me, weigh in time is Wednesdays at 7:30 pm! I eat normally

during the day but stop by about 4 or 4:30. I also lay a bit easier

on the veggies since they tend to make me feel bloaty and bulk me up

inside. I also stop drinking water at about 3:00 since I noticed

that after drinking it takes about two or three " trips down the hall "

to make me feel like I've gotten rid of most of it! lol

Drinking or eating before a weigh in? Not me, no way. I want to know

why *I* weigh, not what the food and liquid I've just ingested

weighs. ;)

Once I COULD wear jeans I decided to wear jeans every week to keep

things the same. I was told at a meeting that jeans on average weigh

2.2 lbs.

Because that's your natural weight, and it's not being artificially raised

by whatever has not yet been digested and processessed.

It's not cheating, it's getting an accurate reading.

My meetings are at 11:30 am on Tuesdays, they are at work, so we use

our lunchtime for the meetings. I haven't been, but starting

tomorrow, I will eat my normal breakfast & drink my 1 cup of coffee

before the meeting. We eat our lunches during the meetings, which is

really interesting. Some eyebrows do go up at some of the things

brought in as lunches, LOL

I'm confused. How soon after I eat does it become my natural weight?

Is it after I go to the bathroom? What if I eat lunch soon after

breakfast? Am I never at my natural weight?

You weight what you weight. If someone wants to take a laxative and

get on the scale naked (at home I hope) that's up to them. But when

they go out in public, they are seen with and without sweaters,

before and after meals, and in sickness and in health. I'll say it

again, you weight what you weight.

Your natural weight is what you weigh first thing in the morning when you

wake up, before your body needs to process the food and activity for the

day, which happens at night when you are sleeping. Everything you eat and

drink gets added onto that throughout the d ay, which is why you weigh the

heaviest in the evening.

Which is why I prefer to weigh myself as early as possible in the day.

on the flip side though, if you weigh yourself the same time each day, you

are still going to get consistency. I just prefer to do it when the odds

are in my favor.

Nope - the WW corporation has been a pain the hiney since day one. They

won't provide a Palm program because they don't want to pay Palm, but they

get all snitzy when someone else writes one and they don't get their cut.

You'd think they'd just want to see their program work! Sheesh! The best

way to get the program is still by e-mail to the guy who wrote it.

Information is on dwlz.com in the message board section under Palm Central.

If that fails, then just drop an e-mail here, and I'm sure someone will send

it to you :) I personally keep WWCalc, the 2002 food companion, and ALL the

restaurants on a CD that I take to every WW meeting - *someone* has to

provide the tools, and WW isn't doing it!

Personally, I think that first thing in the morning is the most " unnatural "

time in my life. Without two cups of coffee, you don't want me to speak -

much less weigh <g>. ly, I'm doing my best to get away from the scale

altogether. I have to weigh once a month, and beyond that I just stay on

program. I can tell when I'm up or down by how my clothes feel, so getting

on that damn device really doesn't prove anything except that I'm still

" legal " as a lifetime member and don't have to pay.

That said, I think it's safe to say that we may all need to agree to disagree

on this topic. We all do what's right for us. We've offered our opinions

and rationale, and I really don't want to see this decend into an argument.

After all, what's right for you *is* right - be it morning, night, dressed,

or nude.
