Guest guest
Oh yes! Thyroid will really tire you out if it's hypo. I've had Hashimoto's Disease (hypothyroidism) and if my medicine needs adjusted I'm either so tired out I can't function or I have insomnia. It really affects everything: weight, metabolism, fatigue, dryness of skin, hair loss, etc. Rhonda Jenn S. wrote : > No, I don't think my doctor did. Could that have something to do with it? Guest guest
Aha! Maybe *that's* why I've been soooo sleepy every day! I've been just soooo tired, that I can't stay awake, and end up having to take naps daily.... I went to my doctor & got blood work done, thinking I had iron-deficiency anemia ... turned out negative. So, I told her that maybe it's just stress. Well, maybe it's just that I've majorly cut down on caffeine -- no more caffinated drink in the morning, almost no more caffeine during the day... Thank you, ! I'd not have put two-and-two together (funny that). ) Jenn <>< -----Original Message----- and it took me a few weeks of headaches and napping a lot. Guest guest
Jenn, I have hypothyroid (Hashimotos) and the most striking symptoms are sleepiness that a good nights rest doesn't take away, hairloss, by the handfuls sometimes, dry skin, slow weight loss or a gain that seems excessive, and a sensitivity to cold (feeling colder than usual). It would be worth asking about, especially if you have any of those symptoms. Shoman has really great information at about.com. Leisa Re: What my doc says about diet soda Aha! Guest guest
Jenn, When I suggested you have blood work done, I didn't think that you were cutting down on caffeine! I remember the whole caffeine discussion then but also didn't put 2 and 2 together. Well, at least you know now that everything is normal. That's a *good* thing!!! If you are a major caffeine addict (like I was), you'll be *really* tired until your body gets used to it. Re: What my doc says about diet soda Aha! Guest guest
Jenn, Did you have these symptoms before you started cutting back on caffeine? I agree, you should also have your thyroid checked. Re: [intuitiveEating_ Support] What my doc says about diet soda Aha! Maybe *that's* why I've been soooo sleepy every day! Guest guest
No, I didn't have the symptoms prior. The super-sleepiness didn't hit until just a week or two ago... and that's about when I started cutting back on the caffeine. I just never put the two together. I'll definately look into the Thyroid thing, though. Like I said, I've got to go back to the doc soon, anyway, so I can ask her then. ) Jenn <>< Re: What my doc says about diet soda Jenn, Did you have these symptoms before you started cutting back on caffeine? Guest guest
Yes, the thyroid is always good to check but my guess is that it's linked to the caffeine. When I kicked it (cold turkey), I slept ALL the time. Hang in there! You'll be caffeine-free and feeling great! Re: [intuitiveEating_ Support] What my doc says about diet soda Aha!
