Guest guest
Heidi -- It must be so difficult to have such a little guy going through these things. 's seizures didn't start until she was nearly 4 and so she could verbalize, plus we knew what she had been like without meds and without seizures. Here's what I can tell you. For us, the " nasty wean " has consisted of maybe a 30 second or so complex partial every day or other day. . . much less dramatic than what you're seeing with Lucas. Still -- it's better than she was before and I believe you'll see " better " with Lucas. My husband and I were just discussing putting the last 1/2 tablet of Lamictal back until these disappeared. . . I was worried she was going to have more at summer camp today. . .when I picked her up, her teacher said, " we're finally meeting the 'old ' -- the one you were telling us about whom we'd never met before. . . the one who was calm, loving and attentive. . .today she did things she'd never done before and I'm confident she's going to be reading before she's out of my classroom! " WOW!!! That's what the drugs had done. .. .put a cloud over her and hidden her sweet, loving, eager-to-learn personality. Needless to say, when my husband gets home, I'm going to recommend not putting that dose back. . .I truly believe today was a sign that we're heading in the right direction. Follow your gut. . .that's all we can do. And always, always keep searching for answers. My thought on the diet is that I'm hoping it can get her drug-free, to remove that " cloud " while we still work out the seizure-free part. Take care of that little guy and trust that you will see better days ahead.-D Oh, DeEtte, I can completely sympathize with your weaning difficulties - we're going through a wicked bad tranxene wean right now.. . I am really dreading the next months . .. and this is getting exasperating. Can thisbe withdrawal? I am putting my money on it, but it's so hard to not know for sure. I know EXACTLY what you mean! DeEtte, I just replied to your other note, but you captured in this sentence what we went through over and over again with the Lamictal wean - should we go back from our dosage drop...no, not yet...how about now....no, let's wait...and then finally, it would be OK. We did 1/4 tab drops of Lamictal at the end. I don't know if the 1/2 tab you mention is the last one (if so, yippee!), but you may consider doing even smaller dosage changes. Guest guest
Well guess what. . . it might not be the weaning after all. Last night, my husband said, " DeEtte, she has a huge cold sore. . . and sure enough, one had just erupted. " It's this danged Gingivastomatitis virus again. . .the one that set everything off in the first place. I'm quite sure that's it this time. . .probably exacerbated by the stress of traveling and being in different climates, etc. The homeopathic physician we just started working with gave us a series of three drops -- one for immune strength, one for " brain balancing " and one to combat this virus. I've been working into them VERY slowly -- guess it's time to get working on the one specific to this virus and see what happens. . . --D DeEtte, I just replied to your other note, but you captured in this sentence what we went through over and over again with the Lamictal wean - should we go back from our dosage drop...no, not yet...how about now....no, let's wait...and then finally, it would be OK.
