Guest guest
Hi Rhonda, I don't know..but my experience has been to be truthful about it with whoever asks. My baby had a reaction with his third dtp - awful, awful, awful. I ask those that ask me about getting more shots if they would be willing to risk the life of *their* child with further shots if it was *their* child who had already had a reaction. And I ask about IF I went ahead with the next shot WHAT would/could be done if he had another reaction, or even one more severe? Would there be anything they could do to help him? I don't much like hearing the lame, " It probably won't happen again, It's worth the risk. Just have to try and see. " When I ask what can be done about a reaction, the answers I get aren't very comforting. Doesn't seem like there IS much that can be done, and there most certainly wasn't when my baby had a reaction! After baby had a reaction, and was suffering, they acted like they didn't really care how much he suffered...but they bent over backwards trying to make sure that the suffering wasn't connected to the shot in the records. (Even though one there in the office informed us (in a whisper when alone in the room) that it WAS a reaction to his shot, that they saw it " ALL THE TIME " . In the records it was written that he was happily playing, etc. and acting normal for his age -- when in actuality he was in a dull kind of stupor, and certainly wasn't playing. I'd be kind of dull too I guess if my tongue was swollen up so awful, and I was passing bad bloody diarrhea rather profusely , among other things. My gosh, if they considered the state he was in as " happily playing, normal child " ... They didn't write anything down in the records about a number of things -- completely omitted it. (!) Our poor little guy didn't laugh again for MONTHS. Oops. getting emotional. Sorry about that. I was just so upset and horrified and disappointed with the medical community when it happened to us. (I had great respect and faith in the medical community as well as in vaccines, prior to the reaction. I now distrust them 99.5% of the time. ) Back to the subject.. I have on occasion asked that if THEY are so confident about the safety of a shot, and its benefits, if THEY PERSONALLY would be willing to put in writing that they would be willing to personally be held legally and financially responsible should anything go wrong. Haven't found one yet who was that confident. I've never tried to put my children into preschool or regular school. We've always homeschooled. We *began* homeschooling chiefly because of the vaccine reaction problem. (We have lots more reasons for homeschooling now, and wouldn't dream of giving it up.) I do have a signed statement from a doctor excusing my oldest from further shots, because of the reaction. (Had to take him to visit another doctor elsewhere after the first -- this doctor recognized the problem , wrote the letter, etc.) I *could* have enrolled him in school, but have opted not to. I kind of get the impression that children here in our area are absolutely positively not admitted to preschool, etc. unless they have complete immunization records, or signed letter from a doctor excusing this. The folks at your child's preschool may very well refuse to let her stay. Isn't that about nuts, though? If the vaccines work so very well, then the other children there are at no risk of catching anything from yours, right? If the vaccines work so well, what are they afraid of? Guest guest
Hi Rhonda Honesty is the best policy. Fill out the form; including the shots she did have, and instead of leaving the rest blank you could right a paragraph (or paper LOL) explaining how you feel about vaccines. Include the fact that she DID have a reaction at 4 months and that you do not feel comfortable injecting toxic chemicals directly into her bloodstream....you are the mother and only you are responsible for the health and well~being of your child. That makes you (and ONLY you) responsible for dealing w/illness or a reaction to a vaccine. No doctor, pharmacutical company, school, or whatever can be held responsible if your child has a reaction....therefore it is your God-given right to make a decision based on the information you have found. You can also provide a philisophical exemption (pending on your state/providence) or religous (even if your not religous. Medical wouldn't work unless your doctor wrote out an exemption form stating that your child had a reaction, and he/she advises not to continue the 'routine'. It would be a shame if they didn't understand your personal views on the matter--but it is a decision that only YOU can make, and if you are willing to deal with the consequences--what's it to them?! If they aren't open minded in that respect, it probably isn't a place you want your child to be anyway. Good luck, I hope everything works out for you; and please let us know what happens. I am contemplating starting Montessori school for my son (mainly for the interaction) and may have to deal w/ similiar issues. Guest guest
I for one, would have no qualms about just filling out a record and stating that my child had all of her vaccinations, even if she hadn't (it's not like anyone can read the doctors' signatures anyway - and who's to say there isn't a Doctor Sollinger?). I know this is illegal, but the way I look at it, neither the government nor anybody else has a right to say that my child MUST have these vaccines. If the government won't change these barbaric laws, and if they continue the shield the manufacturers from liability, then I just won't play by their rules. Fortunately, I won't ever have to do that, as my doctor will certify that all of my children have medical exemptions from the vaccine requirements, and my state has a religious exemption which wil cover my children as well. Of course, if you can avoid vaccines honestly and legally, that is the best way to go. But there's no way I would do something to my children that I know could harm them. Guest guest
Just wanted to know what you decided to do Rhonda. I don't know what I would have done in your case. Since Q has never had any vaccines I would leave it blank and wait for the phone call to ask why I did not fill it out. Since it is a private school they could say no to your daughter attending or say she'd have to stay home if an outbreak of any disease happened. Please let us know what happened!! vaccination records From: Rhonda Grierson-Auriat <denver@...> Help! I thought that the vaccination question wasn't going to come up at preschool, as it wasn't mentioned on the registration form I filled out. My daughter started 3 weeks ago, and yesterday she came home with a " medical information " which is dominated by a chart to fill in with vaccination dates and location. She had the DPT and oral polio at 2 and 4 months, but after that I decided I couldn't do it anymore, it just didn't feel right. I got flak from my doctor, but now she leaves me alone. I'm just going to fill in what she has had on the chart and leave the rest blank, but I don't know what to say when they ask why she hasn't had the rest. Do I say what I feel, which is that I feel that putting a vaccine into her body is a much greater assault on her immune system than having the disease would be; or do I use an excuse and say that she had a reaction to a vaccine and we decided not to continue. She did have a reaction to the 4 month shot, but quite frankly I'm more concerned about long-term reactions that aren't yet apparent. Olivia had a bit of a cold when she went to preschool yesterday and I got the evil eye when I picked her up and a comment that " this little girl was coughing a lot today " . Personally, I think that's a good thing, her body is getting rid of the toxins itself. I get the impression that this is not going to be an " alternative medicine " friendly environment. It is a private preschool, with a board of directors made up of parents. Do they have the right to refuse her if she isn't immunized? She enjoys it, so I hate to pull her out, but I'd rather keep her at home until she's 50 than pump her full of vaccines. Any advice? Guest guest
We finally got the information we asked for from the health dept. regarding our son's vaccination record. They gave us the lot numbers but no manufacturers. Is it neccesary to have the manufacturer in order to figure out if it was a " hot lot " or not? Could someone direct me to the website that listed manufacturers and lot numbers, I would be grateful! Patti (mom to Garet, 4 yrs )
Guest guest
Patti - How did you come to get the records from the health dept? Is that where your son was vaccinated? I'm curious, because our doctor left the state and " lost " all information related to vaccine manufacturers and lots. Would the health dept have this info? Thx,
