Guest guest
I would like to thank you all for supporting me with my issue of gynaecological cancers. I hope that when I speak at the Sexuality and Cancer conference below that women will hear how important it is for us to take more interest in our gynaecological health. In my speaking out about this issue I would hope that I would save at least 1 other women from this devistating operation. Kath Mazzella (nee Doyle) GAIN Gynaecological Awareness Information Network GYNAECOLOGICAL CANCER The Personal Experience Kath Mazzella Founder of GAIN (Gynaecological Awareness Network) Kath was diagnosed with adenocarcinoma of the vulva in 1994. She had radical surgery to remove her clitoris, vulva and lymph nodes. There was little support available for her in Western Australia during her ordeal. Since then she has worked tirelessly to raise awareness of gynaecological cancers so that women may recognise early signs, and not delay seeking treatment. By establishing an Australian network of survivors she is helping to break down the barriers of silence associated with these types of cancers, and enabling support for women and their families.
