Guest guest
This one gets me EVERY time ............ Can someone help me in knowing *when* to use " intratrochanteric " and " intertrochanteric " referable to fractures?? In my reference material (book-form), I see tons of refs to " inter " but none to " intra. " However, doing a Web search (not a totally reliable source, I know!) results in tons of hits for " intra. " (inter=between; intra=within, inside) - this I know, but I somehow *always* get a huge brain blip when I hear a doc dictate this and I invariably go scrounging through my files/books/Web to try to figure it out. Specifically, here is one ... " Examination demonstrates a comminuted (intra or intertrochanteric ... ??) fracture of the left femur with a varus deformity at the fracture site. " My gut here tells me " intra/within " but still unsure. I'm hoping someone can give me a brief lesson here or an easy way to *know* which to use. Thank you ........... Appreciate any/all help!
