Guest guest
Nothing you ask here is foolish. Please don't ever hesitate to ask anything about this disease. We're all in this together, after all. I take my dose of Cymbalta at bedtime. I believe Akiba takes it at bedtime too. Was your Cymbalta given for depression or for pain? Cymbalta has been a miracle drug for me because it has made the severe neuropathy in my legs bearable. MS can cause mood swings. I have a great book that I refer to often "Multiple Sclerosis--The Questions You Have, The Answers You Need" 3rd edition by lind C. Kalb, Ph.D. It sells new for $39 I think but I lucked out and got a like-new copy on eBay for $9. I'll quote a little from page 288 "The issue of mood swings is one of the most common mentioned by MS families. The disease causes structural changes in the brain that may increase the risk of abrupt changes in mood and emotional expression that can occur within minutes. This type of mood swing is often referred to as emotional lability to distinguish it from the longer lasting periods of depression and mania that typically alternate in bipolar disorder."It's common for us to feel sadness. Especially in the early diagnosis stage where you are Chuck. It's changed your life and it's normal to feel sadness or anger. Aren't you on a low dose of 30 mgs. of Cymbalta? Or am I thinking of someone else? I take 60 mgs. I've heard that it can go as high as 120 mgs. hugs to you Chuck)))Sharon Sharon (MSersLife Group Owner/Creator) It's not easy taking my problems one at a time when they refuse to get in line. ~Ashleigh Brilliant Feeling sad I hope this doesn't sound foolish, but I am wondering if anyone has had the experience of crying with no reason. Sometimes I just start feeling real sad and then just start crying. Most of the time it's during the day before I take my Cymbalta. I don't like to get nne upset but she can tell that there's something wrong. If anyone else is taking Cymbalta, when do you take it? I take mine at 6PM, maybe I should switch to morning. Guest guest
My Dr *specifically* told me to take it in the morning. What you're experiencing is symptomatic of depression. Take the Cymbalta earlier in the day...I take mine at noon. Guest guest
Akiba, Thank you for your reply. I'm going to the Neuro next week and I'm going to ask him about taking my Cymbalta earlier. They really help me feel better. Peace and Blessings back to you. Guest guest
Hi Chuck, hi nne! In my case I have had what you experience, sometimes it is hormonal, but more often than not, it is related to MS, and the related depression. I do want to add that when I was in the hospital in July on the 3 day solumedrol (steroid) IV, I really got quite emotional, and had some real severe mood swings! So...I would also speak to doc in regards to steroid therapy...just a thought...blessings on you both, hugs, kate love, light, laughter, kate Attachment: vcard [not shown]
Guest guest
I asked my neuro's NP at the last visit about the timing of Cymbalta and she said it didn't matter when I took it. I'm going to ask Dr. M. tomorrow and see what he says. Maybe the difference is if a person is taking it for depression or neuropathy? Guest guest
Hi Kate, I never thought about the steroids, when I had mine Prednizone I actually felt good except when I went into withdrawl. I will be sure to ask about this when I go next week. Blessings to you Chuckkatelloydkidz@... wrote: Hi Chuck, hi nne! Guest guest
I have read all the replies and was suprised that no one menioned that it can also go the other way. When I was first dxed my daughter was working with the mother of an MSer and she told Patience to not be surprised if I have periods of crying and periods of laughter for no reason at all and that they are not controlable. I admit that I have had more crying spells than laughing but I have had both. They usually happen for me when I am not really thinking about anything. Guest guest
Lynn, Chuck used to get times when he would just start laughing for no particular reason. The kids and g-kids got a kick out of it. They thought he was funny. Little did we know. Guest guest
There was something about that in the monthly MS magazine. Guest guest
FWIW, I have inappropriate emotions sometimes too. I read they actually have a *name* for it, adn like 10% of MS people do this. I don't take Cymbalta, though. Copaxone here. Guest guest
Hi, Before I used to go into fits of laughter that everyone thought was funny. Don't understand why it's the opposite now.
