Guest guest
Even though I'm sick, I'm going to exercize because if I don't, I'll gain weight. Even though _____ doesn't taste good and doesn't satisfy me, it's lower calorie so I will eat this instead of something I like. I've already eaten too many calories for the day so I shouldn't eat anymore even though I'm hungry. I need to lose ___ pounds by my wedding/reunion/etc. Why don't have I have enough will power to not over-indulge in _______?

Guest guest
Great question. I am going to take a different approach with this, if that's OK. I believe that my thoughts become things. The more I think something, the quicker it becomes something. So rather than list all the things I am still stuck on and potentially reinforce those thoughts in my brain, I am going to list the thoughts I now have and will continue to have, allowing me to maintain my ideal body weight through intuitive eating and moderate movement. - I am an intuitive eater and I trust my body to tell me when she is hungry and when she is satieted. I always listen to my body. - I am radiantly healthy and I maintain a healthy body weight through intuitive eating. I eat when I am hungry and stop when I am full. - I accept my body just as she is. I love my curves and softness and believe I am beautiful, no matter my size. My body is perfect, always. - My body likes to move and dance and stretch and play. Movement is something my body truly enjoys. - All foods are equal. I eat whatever my body craves, whenever she craves it because I trust my body to know what I need. - I am releasing all the excess weight my body no longer needs and any emotions, triggers and habits that no longer serve me. - I am happy and following my bliss in every aspect of my life and that shows in how I treat my body; with love, respect and kindness. Here is my question to you ... what are you telling your mind and body every day through your thoughts? With support and kindness. Punky > > Okay, everyone ... here's a " task " for you! Guest guest
One day last week, I was eating dinner and " out of curiosity " I decided to add up what would be my Weight Watchers points to see how much I had eaten. Well, apparently this is why curiosity killed the cat, because I figured I had had 19 points including dinner that day, so I could still eat more " and still be good " . I ate 4 snack size chocolate bars before I realized what had happened. Diet mentality sneaks up on me before I realize it is happening. Note to self: stop counting WW points! - > > > > Okay, everyone ... here's a " task " for you! Guest guest
Trying on clothes sends me into a sort of depressive diet mentality. I have so much excess skin from losing a great deal of weight that it is hard to find clothes that fit right. Everything from the waist up is too big and everything from the belly down to the thighs are snug. It is worse than getting on the scale. I tried on clothes yesterday and I am in a slump today. The first thing I thought of this morning was to totally stop eating, trying to find a way to never eat again. Isn’t that crazy! I really like the clothes I have now. I am fairly happy with myself. Of course I immediately reminded myself to ‘take care of me’ and not to worry about it, but it will take awhile to get over this negative feeling. Isn’t it something how one thing can really send you into another frame of mind? Vicki From: IntuitiveEating_Support [mailto:IntuitiveEating_Support ] On Behalf Of Jenn S. Guest guest
Great topic. I'm just getting my feet wet with this, so I probably have quite a bit. My only salvation is that I never got into the good foods/bad foods thing and would allow myself a smidge of things that I craved when I craved them. Probably the hardest diet mentality thing for me to overthrow would be " I ate such a big lunch, I'll have to eat a really small dinner. " > > Okay, everyone ... here's a " task " for you! Guest guest
Jenn - this is a great question! Fortunately, I have been at this for a while so most of the diet mentality is gone, but I have a few... If I get so busy that I don't eat and realize it later, a little voice in my head says I should go the whole day like that so I lose weight There are a few foods that I really like that I always denied myself while dieting. Although I know I can have them anytime I want, I tend to eat beyond full, subconsciously thinking this is the last time I am going to eat it. Diet Coke is ok because it has no calories (I am down to just one a day and barely craving it now :-)) I have a two page " Self Talk Quiz " where you rate yourself on 53 different diet mentality statements to see which ones you are still believing or telling yourself. It's really interesting because you may not even know you are saying these things until you read them. I don't think we can attach things on this list, but if anyone wants to take it, email me and I can send it to you. Thanks!
