Guest guest
Hi Jo, What is happening with your hand? I thought you had RSD in your leg? Have you had an injury? I must have missed something. I know this is going to make your life twice as difficult as it was before. I have had to learn to do everything with my left hand too since the accident last July. I tried to turn the steering wheel with my right hand yesterday but it just hurts my shoulder too much. Whenever I use the pointing finger and thumb I get this terrible pain in my shoulder that shoots down my arm. It is getting a little better, I think, but like you I think I am in denial. My therapist thinks I have RSD beginning in the shoulder but my doc says it is just normal pain. Time will tell. I have an appt. with my ortho again tomorrow but we are supposed to have snow here, maybe, beginning late today. If we do get snow everything will shut down, kids will be out of school and they will probably have a curfew. This area is not prepared for snow as we don't get it much. I am hoping my doc will start physical therapy again so I can get this stiffness worked out and get the shoulder moving better. When you check out the voice recognition programs try the Dragon Naturally Speaking. It comes fully integrated with WordPerfect (which I use and love) and is very easy to use and train to your voice. My boss used it at work for a while after I was injured and it helped lighten my workload a lot. You need a good microphone no matter what program you use. Do you have a sports store in your area Jo? We have Sports Authority here that carries a yellow putty that physical therapists use to keep the lower arm and hand moving. You take a ball of putty, a lot like Silly Putty, and just work your fingers through it forming a ball and squeezing it for isometric exercise. It may help retain some of the strength in your arm if you can do this. A racquetball would work too but it is a little more difficult to work with. I hope you get this under control Jo and wish I could help. Take care, Debbie/DJ ________________________________________________________________ GET INTERNET ACCESS FROM JUNO!
