Guest guest
Things are o.k. at the Rojas clan--preparations for the High Holidays! Therefore, COOKING!!!!!! Love, n Checking up on everyone (from Sharon) Things have been pretty quiet around the group so I thought I would check up on everyone. Everyone here okay? What's going on at your house? I caught a cold from my 8 y/o granddaughter. It's not the worst cold I've ever had but it's messing with my MS. More numbness--in fact my right foot is totally numb. Not just "comfortably numb". lol My face and lips are more numb than usual, too. I have peed my pants several times and I've had a major spasm attack. I woke to one of those killer spasms a few nights ago. I used to call them "a charley horse times 1,000". All in all, it could be worse. But it could also be better. Challis and her family left for a camping/hunting trip this morning. She has worked like a mad woman for a week getting ready. She's cooked all kinds of stuff to take along--made tons of breakfast burros (or burritos for some of you) and other goodies and froze them to pack in the ice chests this morning. She made all sorts of treats to take too. She won't be back home until Tuesday. I miss talking to her every day. Our weather is cooling off. It's been around 100 or less. Very nice! I picked up some books at the thrift store last week. I thought I had read every Agatha Christie mystery but I found two I hadn't ever read. I loved Agatha Christie as a young teen. I've read one of them already and it was good. I also found a J.A. Jance I had never ready called "Devil Claws". I started that one earlier this evening and I think I'll go get back to it. Talk to you all tomorrow. Guest guest
Steve and I just got back from a MUCH needed weekend getaway at the coast. (First time we've been completely alone in almost 5 years.) I held up "ok" on our trip. Friday was good, Saturday, I was very fatigued. We went to Solvang Sat., and did a lot of walking and looking in shops. DH got me a beautiful handmade quilt. Later that night, we ate dinner at a nice place right on the water, with an amazing view. I excused myself to go to the bathroom, right after ordering, and came back to the table to long stemmed red roses. He's a keeper. Sunday we looked at antique stores in Cayucos, and Morro Bay. It was a lot of fun. I've paid for that weekend all this week. My legs and feet ache, and I'm so tired. I bought some Crocs in Solvang. Actually Steve bought matching pairs for us, and we looked goofy. LOL. They are sooooo ugly, but so comfortable and easy for me to walk in. It's getting hard to find shoes I can wear nowadays. I catch my toe on the ground and trip myself, or sometimes one foot/leg or the other won't cooperate, and kinda gets pulled along against its will. All the boys are good, with the exception of the baby who has had a fever. My oldest has started having very noticeable tics again, and worsening. So, we have a Neuro referral. He went last Dec. for tremor in his hand, and they did nothing, just said it was probably a "family thing". Not sure if I posted this, but I did get a dx of Interstitial Cystitis, and I'm now on meds for that. I also started Fish oil, Flaxseed oil, Acetyl L- Carnitine, Chromium Picolinate, Ginkgo, Atarax, and a higher dose of Neurontin. It's up to 15 different pills now, some 2-3 times a day. (rolling eyes.) There is NO room for food now, but amazingly I've managed to gain a few pounds anyway. Guest guest
We're not doing all too much, have had a few visitors, Rob is getting ready to go to Fresno and we're planning the Sedona trip, Tucker just came over with his first "stuff" to move himself in, and I am waiting for Robbin to bathe so we can go to wally world and school clothes shop for him. Rob just got his own PC and he is going to install Diablo so we can play battlenet together (we have two discs) while I'm gone shopping. My hens have started laying and we got one egg that I swear must be a Guinness world record!! It is HUGE! My friend took some pics of it and as soon as she emails them to me I will post them in the pics file. That's about it. Guest guest
Sharon, I haven’t been posting but occasionally lurk. I have been busy with fall classes. I am taking 9 credits this semester. Add that on top of working full-time and my daughter’s softball schedule, there isn’t time for much else. Can’t tell if my fatigue comes from MS or from too many activities. I love reading mysteries too. I read the latest Evanovich right before school started. It was a fun read. Have you read it yet? Now I am stuck with Homer’s Iliad and land reform in third world countries. Real snoozers….. I have had lots of numbness lately and pain in my hands. Sometimes it hurts just to touch them. Guest guest
Longer than a week and I'm SO glad we finally got that freezer! How cool! (Pun was not originally intended hehe). Yup, oodles of Breakfast Burros... some for most and some for who doesn't think he likes green chilis and onions and chipotles and garlic in his eggs. P'shaw! LOL And oodles of Dinner / Lunch Burros with some left for home ( can't *see* the stuff in those, so he's okay with it lolol)! Then a pot of tater soup made up and froze for thawing/cooking over the campfire. Man that was good! And an onion, bell pepper, garlic, etc., mix done and frozen for use on hot dog night. And... LOL I NEVER made ahead meals for camp until came along. I do enjoy it in so many ways and in many ways I like cooking at camp. I'll take a nice mix of both. I always did enjoy the steaks on the grill and standing at the camp table with my Mother, chopping veggies for the foil wraps... potatoes, carrots, onions, garlic, maybe celery... ahhh... ) Goodies were everywhere between my Mother-in-law and others and me. Mine alone were my Mom's Creek Crunchies, then the BS Morsel/Noodle Cookies, Creepy Cinnamon Rolls, "The Mix", and bought treats like peanuts and sunflower seeds and candies and apples and bananas. Yes, we even managed fruit. LOLOL So much fun we had at camp and such a nice sized group. Missed my brother and his family going, as the cold (germies) hit and kept them home. My sister and Sis-in-law were able to go though. 's Mom and Dad and Nanny. His brother and Sis-in-law and their three girls. Then there were two sets of Aunts and Uncles, as well as two sets of cousins and their spouses (one with a couple boys -- that cousin's dh joined us part way through... on his way home, for good, from the military having served in Iraq and Korea recently, then coming home from Oklahoma). We also had the latter cousin's in-laws up for a short spell. Lots of folks and lots of fun! ) I found I can call elk and I do so well enough to bring in a seven by seven. What a beautiful animal!! About 55 yards from us before little Paddie, the pug dog, scared that scary critter away. LOLOL Other nights/mornings they called back to me, but didn't come in. At least Cat ('s Mom) was there for hte one that did come in! ) Just fun, fun, fun all the way through! ) Challis Sharon Marsden wrote: Things have been pretty quiet around the group so I thought I would check up on everyone. Guest guest
It sounds like you had a wonderful time. I hope to go next year. I just have to have a comfortable place to sleep first. My ribs (MS hug stuff) can't take a camp bed. Maybe someone wants to haul my whole bed up in the back of their truck? lol... The food sounds wonderful!
