Guest guest
Hi, I'm trying to get a little better understanding of the effectiveness of scans based on TSH levels. My TSH levels are not climbing to 30, despite being on a M,W,F only synthroid for 3 weeks, and now a 5 week run of no synthroid at all. The TSH test of the last three weeks were 5.3, 10.2, then 6.8 last wednesday. My nuclear medicine doctor has proposed doing the small dose and scan this coming wednesday and friday. I am wondering if any research or thoughts exist regarding the effectiveness of the scan if someone isn't at a TSH level of 30 or above ? And with my TSH levels are climbing very slowly, and even going backwards, is it just a matter of time before they creep up to the 30 level ? My surgeon is known to be very thorough, but I understand that the only thing supressing TSH is thyroid tissue. I'm happy to wait if it will make a better scan and uptake of the ablative dose. I'd love to hear from people with similar slowly rising TSH levels, and learn what they did. This is sort of an addendum to my previous post. Thanks.
