Guest guest
Well I had a simmilar experience and I will relate what happened. i had CT scan with contrast of neck on 2/20/01. My doc had me go hypo and have total body scan on 4/10/01 ( he said waiting 6 weeks was long enough). Even though my hypo tg was 387 the scan showed nothing. I am pretty sure in my own mind that the reason the scan showed nothing was that the CT contrast agent blocked it. That was my experience. Now I have to wait a while (6-9 months) and then do the 24 hour urine (if doc will consent) before going hypo AGAIN to scan and do RAI... So I wholeheartedly recommend avoiding those CT scans with contrast if you foresee needing TBS/RAI. PATRICIA ROLAND wrote: > > please forgive me i know this has been adressed recently. Guest guest
Dear : According to Dr.Ain, contrast medium can keep your body's iodine levels so high that they decrease the sensitivity of the scans. The first question you need to have answered is whether you actually had iodine containing contrast with your CT scans. If you did, then you may have high iodine levels. At any rate, you might as well go through with the scan since you already have taken the RAI. Ideally it would have been better to wait for the scan until your body had rid itself of the excess iodine. You can check on your iodine levels by going on the LID for about 10 days and then having a 24 hour specimen of your urine tested for iodine. Dr. Ain, in a recent post printed below, suggested that we not get too concerned about having a scan soon after the use of contrast, but rather, plan on having your subsequent scans and RAI treatments done after iodine contrast has left your system. Dear ThyCa Members: The issue of stable iodine contamination from CT scan contrast is important, but just one of many factors to consider in order to optimize radioiodine effectiveness. Sometimes, it is necessary to go ahead with I-131 even if conditions are not perfect, knowing for later on that better preparation techniques will be followed. ALWAYS maintain a sense of PROPORTION. Frequently, being presented with a patient after their thyroid surgery who had been exposed to CT contrast dye just before the surgery, I proceed with the I-131 scan & treatment. For follow-up, there may be a higher need for repeat therapy, but this is not always the case. Marilyn Loeb, Rochester, NY p

Guest guest
I can seem to get started. I have tried to stop eating when I am full and to get smaller portion sizes, but my eating seems almost uncontrollable. I am tired of food controlling my life. Please help me to break this horrible pattern! Alison
Guest guest
I've almost gotten to the point that I can't put anything in my mouth in the a.m., because it sometimes sets my body off to wanting more. I noticed I want to eat , even when I drink something and I know my body is not hungry. So , sometimes, I really watch how much I drink and keep it down to a bare minimum. I do best when I do that in the a.m., because my body never needs breakfast. When I'm obedient, I feel led of the Lord to just eat once a day and I eat enough to last till the next day. My problem is too, is wanting to be obedient and finding people who will encourage me in that direction. Thanks. -- In IntuitiveEating_Support , " ladybug_22_39358 " wrote: > > I can seem to get started. Guest guest
I would encourage you to work within yourself on discovering a way to eat more often and be satisfied. Eating more often throughout the day will be much better for your body and health than one big meal. I love to eat so the less I eat the more times I feel hungry and get to feed myself. Being obedient means everything in moderation. God never said to go without. In fact He has made many promises throughout his Word to the contrary…..that He will provide all we need …and more. He tells us to be sober minded, not drunk with excess. Isn’t that what IE is all about. Another good book to read is Overcoming Overeating. It deals with the compulsion issues. It is a secular book like the Intuitive Eating book. Guest guest
Eating more often, if the Lord leads you that way, is great. But He has impressed upon me , time and time again, that the one meal a day is His will for me, for right now. It takes my focus off of food. Once I start eating in the a.m. ( when I'm not supposed to), it's like I want to eat and serve food, the rest of the day. I wish God would release me from this at times, but for now, this is what He is impressing upon my Spirit to do. -- In IntuitiveEating_Support , " Vicki " wrote: > > I would encourage you to work within yourself on discovering a way to eat > more often and be satisfied. Guest guest
Hi Alison-- We've had a lot of people join recently, so I'm not sure where you are in the IE process...are you new to the whole concept of IE? Perhaps if you are struggling implementing all aspects of IE you could break it down into smaller steps. At the beginning I think it takes great effort just to wait until hungry before eating. A good, stomach rumbling hungry. Once you have successfully mastered that, move on to the next step. Maybe the next step isn't waiting for fullness, but eating slowly, savoring your food, paying attention to your meal, putting your fork down, etc. I started out with WD also...and I remember being on those forums and there were people who, when they first started waiting for hunger, didn't get hungry for a whole day or two!! That wasn't something that consistently happened...but it did happen to them at the beginning. Maybe you could make a list of the different steps and then just go through and not move on to the next one until you have the one you are working on mastered. I think sometimes we try to do everything at once...hmmm, sounds sort of like a diet (eat less, eat diet food, exercise, drink water, etc--ALL AT ONCE) and a recipe for disaster. Ultimately, Intuitive Eating is all about becoming more intuitive about your body--listening to it, nurturing it based on what it is telling you. So many of us who have struggled with weight or focused on food have lost touch with our bodies. Cheryl help I can seem to get started. I have tried to stop eating when I am full and to get smaller portion sizes, but my eating seems almost uncontrollable. I am tired of food controlling my life. Guest guest
Sometimes God takes us *through* a problem in order to strengthen us, instead of freeing us *from* it. Like the apostle with his " thorn in the flesh " . God chose to deliver through the sitation instead of from it, to show that God's strength is made perfect in 's weakness. Guest guest
I am new to the concept of IE. It probably would help to take it a step at a time. Maybe then it won't seem as overwhelming. Guest guest
I do need to pray more I need to realize that I can't do this alone. Thanks for your prayer. Alison Re: help hi, Alison. Did you intend to write "I can't"? That's an interesting slip... I'm beginning this program by concentrating on prayer and on reading. (The IE book and the ThinWithin book) I am more aware and able to wait until I am hungry and at a 0 to begin... I'm still struggling also with stopping when I am full. I'm sure others here will write to encourage you also but I wanted you to know that someone heard your plea tonight and is praying for you tonight. We can do this because we are not alone in our effort. We can accept the help, the encouragement, the strength that God offers us. I believe that one way God offers us help is through this group where people who understand how difficult this is for us will share their experience and hope with those of us just beginning this journey. Guest guest
i'm with you. if i wait until my stomach is growling then i eat too fast and too much. the only time this isn't a problem is when i'm too busy to think about it. but since i work in an office (sitting behind a desk all day) and we are really slow now i have plenty of time to think about food.
