Guest guest
What does " Assuming she doesn't have the antibodies " mean? has the antibodies - this is Hashimoto's, correct? My understanding was that it was genetic and that the antibodies will continue to stay in her system although there is nothing to 'attack'. What is the relationship between the antibodies and future testing of thyroglobulin? BTW, we test her TSH twice a year. The last time they tested her blood for thyroglobulin, they mistakenly did the antibodies test and they were still around. How do you 'order' a thyroglobulin blood test and not get the antibodies test instead? a, daughter age 10, pap thyca 11/30/99, RAI 03/07/00, 2 clean scans ============================================================================ ======== I would think the biggest problem (after being sure she takes her Synthroid consistently) would be keeping her TSH consistently suppressed, in view of her rapid growth & other hormonal fluctuations. I assume that her Synthroid dosage will have to be increased gradually as she ages. How often does she get TSH tested? And (assuming she doesn't have antibodies) is thyroglobulin also tested regularly? Glad you are here. Ask specific questions here--someone should be able to help. Nina geiger@... This is because the presence of antibodies invalidates the TG test as a cancer marker. It's not true that antibodies always stay in the system after a TT. Often they disappear months or even years after surgery, so it's worthwhile to repeat the blood tests at regular intervals. If 's system stops making antibodies, then the TG test will be useful for her. Hope this helps, ellen -- mailto:ellen@...
