Guest guest
It's my understanding that you can't bank more than ten food points per week. So even if you ate your minimum points every day for six days saving up for a party and ended up with 30 points banked you are only supposed to use ten. That's what they told us in our meeting anyway. Kris Bevs weigh in & now I've been sick... HELP! I had my weigh in on Tues, and lost 2 pounds! That is the good news. SOOOO. Got the " mini flu " Tues night & all day Wed. I've been sick for the last 2 days and was TOTALLY unable to eat. I am dealing with a total of 32 banked points and I've got 5 days to go before my next weigh in. Any ideas of how to put those banked points to good use? do I just drop them & move on, or use them gradually. I still don't have much of an appetite yet. Guest guest
You have to eat your minimum points each day, plus activity points. You can bank up to half of your activity points, but have to eat at least half of them. If you have 30 points in the bank you can only use 10 in one day, but you could use 10 one day and 10 the next, for example. Semalee Either you are in control, or you are being controlled. Guest guest
My understanding is you are never " required " to eat any of your activity points. Have you heard otherwise?. Actually, yes. I had heard that too, and I had also heard that you should never eat more than four in a day. I have been excercising for the last 3 weeks at least 3 days a week high intensity workouts (like advanced step) I am not a person who was very active before, but I like the advanced classes cause I am so busy trying to keep up that I don't even realize I feel like I am going to die!! Anyway, I have been eating a maximum of 4 of those points each day and making sure to get all of my veggies, eating yogurt for dessert drinking water by the gallon, etc. I have showed a gain for the last three weeks. Not small gains either, this week was 1.2 pounds, last week 4 pounds and the week before 2.2. I talked to my leader about it (cause I have been quite successful on WW before now) and she said WW recommends you eat all of your activity points because if you don't your body will go into conserve mode, which is what is happening to me probably. It is very hard for me to fathom eating 7 extra points on the days I work out, especially cause I am not nearly as hungry those days!! But I am going to try it this week and see what happens.... Anyway, that is what my leader said.... Semalee Either you are in control, or you are being controlled. I choose to be in control. 176.4/150.2/125 -- Bevs weigh in & now I've been sick... HELP! Guest guest
Isn't there a gal on the list that is a personal trainer?? I would be really curious to know what her opinion is on this subject. I have been told (by both my WW leader and a friend who is a body builder) that when you are working out regularly you are building muscle, and in order to build muscle your body has to take in a lot of extra water to repair and rebuild. It can take weeks or months for your body to get rid of that extra water if you are continuing with the exercises. So your weight gain may not be anything more than water retention and gain from building muscle. If you aren't comfortable eating more I don't know that you should. I would think that it's more important to listen to what your body is telling you. If you are starving after doing all the exercise and your points aren't enough then it would make sense to eat more. But if your body isn't hungry I shouldn't you listen to it? Kris Bevs weigh in & now I've been sick... HELP! I had my weigh in on Tues, and lost 2 pounds! That is the good news. SOOOO. I felt better Thursday, then it came back with a vengance on Friday. Today, I have managed to keep breakfast down for the last few hours anyway. I guess I'll just pretty much have to scratch this whole week points wise, unless some one can tell me the points for " alka seltzer " ? Lots of sodium, I know, but I even threw up the water. I am so tired of winter, is this the winter that just keeps on keepin on or what????? Glad you are feeling better Bev, I would just do the best you can with your points and listen to your body. Guest guest
Like anything having to do with the human body, your experience is going to vary. If we were all machines created on an assembly line than what works for you would work for me, and vice versa. Unfortunately that's not the case, so you have to work within the WW program to find what works for your particular body. I earn (when healthy) 7-9 Aps a day. I never eat them. I bank 4 of them and the rest are happy little presents I give to my body. On the weekend I go into my bank. You can bank 9 points total a day (only 5 from food) so unlike what someone else said in the thread, you CAN bank more than 10 a week. I use my bank on the weekends, some on Saturday some on Sunday, but never go into it more than 10 points per day. I leave every week with 20-30 points uneaten. Doing this I lost an average of 2.1 pounds a week over a year. Unfortunately that might not work for someone else. I am assuming my metabolism is pretty regular. It doesn't rev up or slow down much, but runs pretty much the same. For one thing, I never seriously dieted before WW (except a three day nightmare with that horrible Atkins, and one crash diet when I was very young where I starved myself to lose, only to gain back double within half the time it took me to lose). Someone else might have yo-yoed for years, really bunging up the metabolism to the point where they can't eat any of their Aps without gaining. Someone else may have a body that is highly susceptible to metabolic change from diet and exercise. One size just won't fit all. So I suggest that people try different things if they find that they are gaining. More food might be the answer, or not eating the Aps might be the answer. Quitting, though, is never the answer so I applaud everyone who keeps going despite gains! Tory Bevs weigh in & now I've been sick... HELP! I had my weigh in on Tues, and lost 2 pounds! Guest guest
Im in Charlottesville Va. We've had more snow this year than the last 5 put together! Our stupid school system got cocky & didn't bother to build in any snow days this year so the kids will be going to school thru JULY probably. Even my 9 year old is getting tired of being off and he hates to go to school! We need the moisture though, and slow melts from snow are the best way to get in. We had more folks with wells going dry, and the reservior was at 30% for about 2 months this fall. We were really getting scared about the water sitch. All is good now though!
