Guest guest
Get the DMSA and ALA from Kirkman's. The DMSA comes in 50 mg capsules. Very easy to work with. Guest guest
Thanks for the advice. The difficulty in mixing it fresh every time is that the DMSA capsules are 300 mg and I only want to give 50 mg per dose and the ALA capsules are in 100 mg and I only want to give say 20 mg per dose. Any suggestions on how to measure these doses? Thanks, 's Mom
Guest guest
I have been reading posts and files on this list for several weeks and today is the day to start the first round of chelation. I will start chelation with my nine year old son, , today (Friday) at 6:00 pm and end on Monday morning a 6:00 am. I plan to give 50mg DMSA and 17mg ALA for 18 doses every 3 hours during the day and every 4 hours at night. This is my question: Is it okay to mix all the DMSA (900mg) and all the ALA (300mg) in juice (equivalent to 18 teaspoons) and store it in the fridge for the entire weekend? Thanks, 's Mom
Guest guest
I heard these agents do not remain stable in liquid very long. I would mix it fresh everytime just before giving it. Guest guest
You could mix the dmsa with 6 teaspoons of juice and divide it out in 6 oral syringes. Then take the ala and add 5 teaspoons of juice and divide out 5 ways. I divide both out 3 ways so I add them together. I think if you are dosing every 3-4 hours they should remain stable but you may want to check with Andy. Also mix with lemonade, limeade or pineapple juice so the dmsa and ala remain stable. FYI Kirkman as 25, 50 and 100 mg capsules of both ALA and DMSA (I think) and VRP has DMSA in 100mg capsules. (Ian's mom) Re: [ ] Pre-mixing DMSA and ALA in juice Thanks for the advice. The difficulty in mixing it fresh every time is that the DMSA capsules are 300 mg and I only want to give 50 mg per dose and the ALA capsules are in 100 mg and I only want to give say 20 mg per dose. Guest guest
According to Andy...Premixing is ok up to 12 hours in an acid base. Chelation support supplements can be added to this mixture.
Guest guest
I asked this question to Larry at Kirkmans. He said that pre-mixing 1/2 hour ahead was ok but longer and it will lose strength. karen
Guest guest
What we do is make up the cups with dmsa/ala/glycine and put tops on them. we take 4 cups upstairs at night 12:30 dose and 4:30 dose. Then we take a larger cup with OJ in it and put it in a lunch sack with freezer packs. We get up and mix the oj with the powder and give it right away. This keeps us from going up and down the steps in the middle of the night. Tina

So everything is in the cups and I just add the oj right before I give it to them. Tina

This seems like a nice way to do it, I just want to see if I'm following you I agree that things done at 3 AM need to be as easy as possilbe (ha ha ha ha ha--- cackling deranged laughter!) DMSA should be mixed into something acidic IF YOU WANT TO DO IT AHEAD. (If you do it at the time just before giving it, it doesn't matter.) Use acidic fruit juices (lemonade, limeade, or pineapple juice for example) are good for mixing with DMSA. Limit the number of doses that are premixed into acidic juice, and then use them up in a reasonable amount of time. Keep in fridge. I'm not sure how long " a reasonable time " is=== perhaps you could mix the doses for 1 capsule's worth? Moria
