Yeppers ... points, calories ... whatever, they can add up VERY quickly!

By the way, for all of you doing WW's ... here's something that you might find interesting (I got this from a diabetic group I'm on):

Points were developed by Weight Watchers as an alternative to exchanges. Tracking a single number proved a lot easier than trying to figure exchanges. Also, since most food people eat is prepared food, calculating exchanges wasn't as easy as it once was.Unfortunately, points also simplify the dieting a bit too much. Points don't take in account exactly where those calories come from, and unlike the exchange plan, don't encourage people to eat fruits and vegetables. The formula for calculating Weight Watchers points is public information since there is a patent on it:Points = (Calories / 50) + (Grams of Fat / 12) - (Grams of Fiber (but no more than 4 grams count) / 5)A food high in fiber will only subtract - at most - one point from the total number of points and even food high in fats won't be penalized more than 1 or 2 points. In other words, almost all the points come from the number of calories.

I decided to restart WW @ home, right? I announced it right here. So, I was thinking..."when ya gonna do this, huh?" Well, since I tend to lean toward procrastination, I figured...better do it now. So, I got out ye trusty point finder, and ye trusty olde journal and started writing down the things I have mindlessly put into my mouth today and got started. Well, after I wrote it down, and did the math, I realized that I have already used 10 pts. this morning....and it's only 10:30!!!!

I don't really need "help." I know that the flex points are there for when I need them. I know to keep track and not let it gang up on me. I just wanted to share that I learned how easily the points add up when you're not looking!! Donna

You certainly seem to be doing it right! Oh, I love that Lean Cuisine meal .. it's wonderful! Carrot chips??? Where do you get them! I'm a lazy woman too!!! LOL

~ Babette ~

well, I have my meal packed to take to work....1 lean gourmet dinner (santa fe style rice 'n beans), 3 oz of "carrot chips" (pre sliced carrots, I swear, for the ultimate lazy woman!) 2 wedges of laughing cow cheese ( 1 point per wedge, and I adore this stuff) and an apple! I am working through my bottle of water, when I finish it, that'll be 46 oz. I am gonna have to have a diet sprite pretty soon tho...I can't put it off much longer!! By the way, after I eat everything in the sack, I will have consumed 20 pts, 3 servings from the fruit/veg group, and still have 4 pts. to play with!! Donna

Donna,

Are they like "Michilini" or something like that? I think I saw them in the frozen food section. They are better than WW and LC? What are your favorite ones? I will have to give them a try! Thanks for the info.

I've had those too and they are pretty good. But I don't usually get many vergetables in so I am trying the cooking and freezing. I still have the frozen dinner occassionally. I think I will tonight.
