Guest guest
Beth, It is possible that your misscarriage could be caused by other factors, not just the septum. Your residual septum seem quite small that it probably should not affect the fetus as much unless the implantation takes place directly on the septum. I'm glad to hear that endometrium has been developed between your two horns. I assume that it would be a good place for the implantation since it has the blood supply now?? I will see my RE tomorrow for a pre-op and will ask him all the questions about my second surgery. I think that the most difficult aspect of this procedure is knowing where to end the septum resection. It often is difficult to identify the proper stopping point while looking through the hysteroscope. It is possible to see blood vessels which is a good indicator that the fundus has been reached so that the septum resection would be complete. I just read an article about the septoplasty. One of the doctors would place the patient on GnRH analog for 4 to 6 weeks before the septoplasty so that it would thin the endometrium to facilitate visualization. Have you ever taken GnRH analog? I have never taken it. I will bring the article to my doctor tomorrow and see what he thinks. Do you plan to have another IUI soon or will you do something different? Good luck on your efforts! Guest guest
Oh Beth, I can empathise greatly with you! Oh, I just don't know what to say - funny, even though I can cope with my own miscarriages, to hear of someone else who is also trying so hard... Please, rest up as much as you can, and remember that we're all thinking of you. Guest guest
<<Is this your first miscarriage after the septoplasty? Do u still have a residual septum? (You don't have to answer right now.) I'll be thinking of you.>> Hi Rita, Yes, this is my first m/c after the septoplasty. I have a leftover septum of about one centimeter, and it was visible today on the scan with the " good " machine (I had transvaginal scans with 2 different machines today). It looked like a long, pale band across the very top of my uterus. I am not worried about it, although there is still a higher m/c risk with even a tiny septum than without. It seems just as probable that this loss could have been due to a chromosome accident (i.e. a random, common event). Over 60% of losses before 8 weeks are. One really nice thing we saw today was a thick band of decidua (the endometrium of pregnancy) stretching from horn to horn, where the septum had formerly been. Seems to suggest that the surgery really improved conditions in my uterus! Thanks to you and to everyone who has expressed condolences. You are all so special, and it feels good to know that you understand better than anyone else possibly could. Guest guest
Beth, I'm devastated for your and your husband's loss. Seldom do I feel this much grief for anyone. The way you have supported and comforted everyone in this list is just amazing. Yet I'm comforted by the fact that you do not feel hopeless, because you really shouldn't. I'm really sorry that you have to go through all this - and to wait once more. But I'm also sure that in the near future there will be happy news for you for a change.
