Guest guest
I am doing it this month. I have found it helpful, but will definitely be cancelling when the month is up. There are some really good exercises on there that it was nice to have access to, and I really like his interactive hunger scale. I'd say that if money isn't a big issue, it's worth it, but if it is scarce it probably isn't. There are a lot of exercises that help you get in touch with your hunger, figure out what each number means to you, learn how to savor food again, etc. I imagine I will print them all before I am done and then come back to them at some point. He intends for it to be an online community but it hasn't really reached its potential there I don't think. IMHO, too expensive to stay a monthly member forever. If it was like $10 a month I might consider it. > > Hi, everyone...Somewhere among these messages I saw " Thintuition " > mentioned. Guest guest
I think we need to be careful about copyright infringement here, but I will post a couple. Upon further review, I think his real gems are his explanations of the 6 behaviors of people who follow their thintuition. He explains these more in his book. The 6 behaviors are: - I distinguish appetite from hunger - I eat to satisfy physical hunger - I eat the foods I desire - I savor each and every bite - I regard food as fuel - I stop eating when my hunger disappears I have been struggling a little bit over the weekend. I went back and reviewed the website this morning and it was very helpful and motivating. Here is 1 exercise from " I distinguish appetite from hunger " : " How many times a day does appetite trigger me to eat vs. eating because I'm hungry? My goal is to practice this exercise until I am only checking off actual physical hunger as the reason I eat. It will be easier to complete this activity, if I print it out and fill it in throughout the day. Under Appetite I fill in an X in the first box, if I think about food, and then EAT it, even though I am NOT HUNGRY. In the box next to it, I fill in the food I eat. I continue to fill in the boxes throughout the day, each time I think about food and EAT it, when I am NOT HUNGRY. Under Hunger I fill in an X in the first box if I think about food, and then EAT it when I am physically HUNGRY. In the box next to it, I fill in the food I eat. I continue to fill in the boxes throughout the day, each time I think about food and eat it, when I am physically HUNGRY. Eating Record: Appetite : Food X : X : X : X : X : X : X : X : X : X : Hunger : Food X : X : X : X : X : X : X : X : X : X : How I Scored: (Self Scoring) Appetite Totals: The number of times I ate today because of appetite. Hunger Totals: The number of times I ate today because of hunger. What I learned about the difference between eating based on thinking about food vs. eating based on the feeling of physical hunger: " Here is another exercise from " I stop eating when my hunger disappears " : " I am at the point in my meal when I have satisfied my hunger (at level 5) and it's time to stop eating. My body is saying, I've had enough. But my head is saying other things which are encouraging me to keep eating. What are they? I check off any that apply. a. automatic old way – reasons to overeat: X It's here; I might as well eat it X I don't want to waste perfectly good food X There are starving people in the world that need the food X I paid for it, so I better not waste it X It just tastes so good X It doesn't matter anyway X I don't know when I'll get this food again X I might offend someone by not finishing what's on my plate X There's not enough left to save, so I might as well eat it X I'm not sure when I'll be able to eat again X I might get hungry again soon, so I'll eat more now What else do I say to myself to keep eating beyond when my hunger disappears? b. generated new way – reasons to NOT overeat X It feels great to stop eating when I'm satisfied X I'd rather feel comfortable than full X I am committed to following my thintuition and not overeating X Being healthy and feeling good is more important than overeating X I want to look good so I won't overeat X I want to lose weight so I just don't overeat X My health concerns are more important than eating more food than I need What else can I say to myself to stop eating beyond when my hunger disappears? I print or write out list b. The next time my hunger has disappeared and I have the urge to keep eating, I take out this list, and choose from one or more reasons to NOT overeat. Thank you for posting this information. Money is very tight around here, so I guess I'll just keep going on my own. I also thought that if they had a vibrant forum, I might try it out, but since they don't, guess I won't. Becky
