Guest guest
HI April. I know where you are right now and I know it is a scarry place to be. Its perfectly alright that you are not happy about the 5lb gain just please do not beat yourself up. I am really into metaphysics and one thing it teaches and if you are a christian what the bible says to is " what you resist persists " , or " he who lives by the sword dies by the sword " . Sometimes we are so afriad that we can only consentrate on the bad and concentrating on it gives it power. Like when you can not find your keys and they are really right in your line of vision but your brain is clouded by the thought that you cant find them, so then you do not see them. What you may be looking for inside yourself , your " aha " moment may be there waiting for you. I have found that though i have dieted and through IE been able to keep the weight off, the weight comes off faster and i eat a lot less and not worry about it with IE. Everyone is different in how IE works for them. Just concentrate on waiting for hunger and knowing how much it takes to fill your stomache. The fist as a guide has been really helpful to me and i seem to want to eat about 4 times a day. You really can do this and the group is here to help. Guest guest
Not me... I released 25 lbs last year (between July & December), but I put back 10 of those since Christmas. :-? Don't get too frustrated, April. I know it's hard, but this process will take time... :-? I *have* read of people who've lost 80 lbs or more doing IE, and they've kept it off... So, it IS possible. I, personally, am just not there, yet. And, really, I only have another 17 lbs I want to release. :-) Jenn <>< -----Original Message----- >Okay, I keep reading how everyone did this diet or that to lose their >weight " but can't maintain that way of eating " so now they are doing >intuitive eating to keep it off... but has anyone actually lost 100 or >more lbs doing intuitive eating? Guest guest
H i! I think it is possible, just like any other way of eating (hate to use the d word)- real weight release takes time... we did not put the pounds on overnight. We will not take them off overnight. I think I myself did parts of IE before I even found the book... without measuring I tried to eat less... at times... At times I tried to measure but hated sticking with it... I tried just eating what I liked and was easy and I knew the caloric info on.. I tried to quell mindless and emotinal eating... drink more water... every little bit helps. Just by simply writing down what you are eating helps you be aware of what is going in. And it is ok that you did not stick with the other website I mentioned... Whatever works for you. How have you been doing on knowing and figuring out your personal hunger scale? LJ
Guest guest
Thanks ... I'm actually feeling a lot calmer about it right now. I think it helped to learn there is a very likely chance that my weight gain has a medical explanation... For some reason I'm okay with it knowing there's a "good" reason for it, other than my own selfish greed... Go figure... Guest guest
Well, one of them is the www.chunktohunk.com website that I've been raving about for just over a week now. Mind you, some of Fred's methods are a little different ... he did cut out a few things ... I agree with *most* of what he says. He's TRULY inspiring -- to me, anyway. ;o) And, the other one is a lady whose story I posted on my IE blog: http://intuitive-eating.blogspot.com You'll have to scroll down ... it's one of the earlier posts, and it's just a link to the story. I'll see if I can find more inspiration for you, and I'll post it later today, okay? ) Jenn <>< -----Original Message----- Jenn... do you happen to have a link to these people's story? Guest guest
LJ, The hunger scale has actually been the easy part for me. I have no trouble identifying 0, and stopping at 5 anymore. I've had about a week (I'm guessing without looking it up?) where I haven't overeaten more than maybe a 6. I have found that journaling my meals has REALLY helped with that. Initially when I tried journaling it totally felt like diet journaling and I couldn't get my head around it. I wasn't sure what 0 and 5 felt like then though, so I didn't have anything to gauge my journaling around. It was just all about my emotions. This morning I was back down 3 lbs to 230 lbs. I also just finished my TOM, so that could totally explain some of the 5 lb jump on the scale... ugh... Gotta love it...
