Guest guest Posted May 28, 2001 Report Share Posted May 28, 2001 Hello. In answer to roll call (which is a great idea, by the way), my name is and I am 14 weeks pg. I have an " unclassifiable " version of a mullerian anomaly. The closest category would probably be UD. Right now, I am just trying to find a second doctor so as to find a second opinion on cerclage. I get conflicting opinions on the benefits and risks. Being at 14 weeks, I am getting to the time when it should be done if it is going to be done at all. So, I am pretty stressed about it. I am trying to stay positive and so far, I have been feeling good. I have a doctors appt. tomorrow with my original doctor (who doesn't think I should have the cerclage), so maybe she will have some more answers for me. By the way, does anyone have info on the risks of eating fish (ie. risk of high mercury content which could cause birth defects?)? I love eating canned tuna and just saw an article today that says pg women shouldn't have more than one serving a month! As of tomorrow I will be 29 weeks pregnant!! The perinatologist now thinks we have a good chance of making it full-term or close to it. I had my first Braxton-Hicks contractions this week, and rushed off to the doctor of course, but they stopped. So far so good! Thank you all, so much, for the wonderful support here. I have 2 cervixes and had a vaginal septum but had it removed because it was blocking my left cervix. I am currently 6w4d pregnant. I got pregnant via IVF. Embryos were implanted into right horn and as far as I know pregnancy is progressing normally. I had a bit of scare last week where I started spotting and bleeding. I was assured that I was not miscarrying as my pregnancy hormone levels were pretty high. The bleeding has now stopped. Doctor said that it is possible that my left uterus has been bleeding or that I had twins and lost one. All will be revealed at my u/s on July 11. So is it common to have an incompetent cervix with a bu. What does that mean exactly though? Does it mean that I will have to go on bedrest? Anyway, I am glad that I have found this list it is good to know that there are others like me. Oh by the way I am 38 and my BU was found via hysteroscopy at the age of 35. The first wasn't confirmed) I am currently waiting for my cycle to start. Since my d & c in February I've only had 3 cycles. I am on day 41. I will undergo one more bloodtest, and another test, can't remember name (Check for fibroids). Then my RE wants to have a sit-down. I have a little miracle - my daughter Geneva, who was born at 26 weeks (due to B/U complications causing preterm labor), weighing 2lbs. Geneva is now almost 4 years old with no complications from her early struggles to survive. I've since had another M/C. Am thinking about TTC again in the fall. Am so happy to hear that other woman are more knowledgeable about their Mullerian Anomalies than I with my daughter's pregnancy. I didn't know what signs of preterm labor to look for (was dilated to 8cm when I went to emergency room) and my OB/GYN convinced me that I was not " high risk " and not to worry about the many Braxton Hicks I was experiencing (am trying not to be bitter). I dream of having a more " normal " childbirth experience someday. Am so excited to read about the pregnancies on the board that are going well. I am 32 years old (33 in 2 weeks, yikes!) and I have UD(fused so it really looks like septum), 2 cervices, full vaginal septum. I am currently 18 wks pg. This is my first pregnancy and I have been trying to stay positive in light of all the complications that " may be " possible with UD. I have recently also found out that I am RH negative AND that I currently have a " low-lying " placenta. This information was given to me at my last OB appt. and I am trying not to feel TOO sorry for myself. It sometimes just seems odd how I can fall into the 1-2% of the ENTIRE FEMALE POPULATION that even has a mullerine anomaly in the first place, but then to also fall into the 15% of the population to be RHnegative! yikes, I might get hit by lightening next week! haha The low-lying placenta also has me worried since I am now being closely monitored to make sure it doesn't become placenta previa. I have been ordered to stop having sex, but told that I can still do other things such as exercise. Anyone have experience with this and advice as to how active I should really be? Sorry, I know this was just a roll call and I got carried away! Keiko, good luck to you by the way! I have had ultrasounds, an MRI and HSG to confirm my uterine anomaly. I see a specialist with the Cleveland Clinic for my condition. After my second miscarriage and consequent d & c, my doctor had genetic testing done on the fetal tissue to determine if there were any issues with our eggs and sperm. Everything was normal. He has also sent me through a gazillion blood and hormone tests... Thankfully, I'm " normal " (in that regard at least). So...at this point in time, we are trying to conceive (however...a little difficult since my husband has been traveling so-o-o-o often for work lately). Nonetheless, during my cycles, 48 hours after I detect ovulation and suspect I could be pregnant, I use progesterone suppositories...to " beef up " the lining of my uterus...and hopefully help with implantation. Thanks for the roll call, Beth. And...thanks to everyone sharing their stories...it helps me not feel alone. One suggestion though... Beth - At some point, could you provide a list of what the abbreviations women use in their email mean? I was diagnosed with a bu during my first pregnancy which ended in a missed miscarriage at 13weeks(no growth past 6weeks). The doctors were unable to tell me if the implantation was on the septum and if the bu had caused the miscarriage. I am not certain that I have a BU, it could also be a septate uterus. Do septate uteri look normal in the Ultrasound but BU's look like they have a heart shape, because I've been told that mine is heart shaped. While performing the D & C my doctor took a laproscope in and said that there was a septum for about 25% of the length of the uterus. She said I could either go to an RE and get tested further (HSG etc) to determine if I have a septate and need surgery or could wait it out and TTC. I opted for TTC since I'm not sure that I want/need surgery. I've been TTC for 4 months now since the D & C. My fertility signs have reduced since the D & C although I have text book cycles of 28 days length, with ovulation around day 14 and a significant temp shift. I've been diagnosed with bicornuate uterus through ultrasound. I've not had any more sophisticated test than u/s. I had a vaginal septum but my baby knocked it out. So it looks like I do indeed have a uterus that is divided to some degree, although we're not sure to what extent. I had laparascopy in April, and my doc says my uterus looks normal from the outside. So we know I don't have a severe anomaly, but beyond that I don't know much. I joined this site in January, after suffering a missed miscarriage in the 11th week (fetus died in eighth week). Wasn't sure if my BU caused the MC, so have been trying to learn more about it. My husband and I are on our second month of trying to conceive. I have BU, don't know the details as I have had an HMO type insurance and couldn't get my OB to go along with exploring my " situation " as he likes to refer to it as. Thanks so much for this group. - 37 (I've been saying I'm 38 until my partner reminded me of my true age! that's why I love him.) 1st pregancy in November resulted in mc in January HSG to remove septum in March TCC in June, conceived mid august I'm having intermittent spotting but my progesterone level is 35 and my HCG is 159 - I go in for a sonogram on tuesday to see where it's implanted.
