Guest guest
After the punching issue and the lack of communication book space devoted to it, I decided to leave my page blank last week as a test. The aide never wrote a WORD. This morning, we were late, and I came into the classroom to tell teacher and aide that has been sleeping badly, so watch out... and the aide told me he has been ravenously hungry at school for the last week, eating his entire lunch and requesting snacks from the snack cupboard, so if I could pack bigger lunches... AGH!!!!! THIS was not worth noting the in f*ing COMMUNICATIONBOOK???????????????????????????????? <having full blown temper tantrum> Jacquie

Guest guest
Jacquie -- In our last IEP meeting I actually demanded they put in writing as part of our " agreement " that a communication notebook was to be used on a regular basis. This really wasn't an issue with ' regular preschool teacher . . .. but I never received input from his speech therapist. So now the SLP is required to jot a note about his progress and what he's working on currently so I can reinforce at home. I had previously asked the SLP to do this and all I got was an occasional " had a great day in speech today! " Now I get details, details!!! has had the same preschool teacher for two years now. In the beginning, she used to try to write on a daily basis what the kids did that day. It became too much for her to try and accomplish at the end of the day before the kids got on the bus . . . so she changed her procedure. Now, at the beginning of every week, we get a schedule from her detailing what the theme of the week is, what books they are reading, what songs they are singing, etc. This frees her up to just make a 1-2 sentence comment in everyone's notebook each day. It's a great system. -BJ in polis, MD -BJ in polis, MD
Guest guest
Did you let her have it? Tell me you did! Please! I am guessing you probably didnt because you would have said so but I am still hoping. She is an idiot. How would you know these things if she didnt write it down to tell you? AGHHHHHHHHHHHHH! You know I wanted a communication book for Greggory but his teacher was unsure what she should write so she asked for help. Well after a few weeks she just started talking to me about his day everyday! I am soooooooo lucky. Makes me made that someone cant even write something down for you and still complain. Guest guest
Jacquie, Have you confronted the aide about this? I say " confronted " instead of " told " because if you seem angry with her about it (not boiling angry, just slow simmer angry), she is much more likely to remember that this is IMPORTANT and not blow off reading and writing in the book. Guest guest
I'm having one right now, WITH YOU! Could someone PLEASE go kick this aide in the A & & ??? and the teacher TOO while you're at it???? Here's my suggestion (maybe you've already done this) Make a pre-printed form with a place for date/comment/parent sig/aide sig/ Preprint the dates. On days that there are no notes, you make a note that there were no notes and makes notes about YOUR day...and make notes for the next day and sign it. If nothing else, this may give you ammunition for the future. Idiots.
