Guest guest
I do! I fell in love with running 7 1/2 years ago, while I was still heavy. I loved it so much, it provided the catalyst and motivation to make me want to take off the extra pounds no matter how hard it was. I was frequently injured and wanted to be able to run as much as I wanted without having to take breaks for recoveries. I run 20 -25 miles a week during the warmer months (5k racing season) and 25 - 30 miles during the spring and fall (10k and half marathon training) and 30 - 40 miles a week during marathon training. I limit myself to one marathon a year, for now = ) I mostly run because I love it but I'm also very aware of the excellent fat burning value it has, plus cardio benefits. I also cross train with cycling once or twice a week and do some weight lifting, strength training when I think about it and feel like it. I highly recommend running!! hope this helps... Guest guest
Rhonda, I seem to exercise in spurts. I love to jog/walk on my treadmill, but then two weeks before my TOM, I seem to get sluggish and my exercise wanes. I do it for health reasons now, and also because I like the way my body gets stronger and more tone from it. I know that really doing it for burning calories is somewhat over-rated, so even though I have focused on that in the past, I focus on enjoying what it does for my body now. Leisa exercise? I haven't read back through all the posts that I've missed so please let me know if this has been discussed recently. Do any of your exercise and if you do, what do you do and do you do it to burn calories, to be healthier, or just because you enjoy it? Just curious! Guest guest
Before IE I used to exercise mostly to burn calories. I'd tell myself I did it because it felt good, etc, but in the end, I'd always push myself hard because I wanted to burn more calories. Since IE, I've started going a lot easier on myself. I still workout 5 days a week, but I do whatever I want. Some days run, some days I walk uphill, some days I go fast and short, and some days I go long and slow. I don't wear my heartrate monitor anymore, which, believe me, I never thought I'd be NOT doing that. Part of the reason I am okay with this is that I am losing weight just with my intuitive eating (even though I have cut back on the intensity of my cardio/lifting). It might feel different if I wasn't losing weight, but this more relaxed routine seems to be working for now! > > I haven't read back through all the posts that I've missed so please let me > know if this has been discussed recently. > > Do any of your exercise and if you do, what do you do and do you do it to > burn calories, to be healthier, or just because you enjoy it? Guest guest
I use Sansone's 'WALK AWAY THE POUNDS' dvds -- I have the 1-mile, 2-mile, and 3-mile walks. ) I try to walk Mondays/Wednesdays/Fridays with my videos. The 1-mile takes only 15 minutes, the 2-mile takes 30 minutes, and the 3-mile takes 45 minutes. I can't do the 3-mile .. I *have*, and it almost killed me! LOL. :-P You can see any of her products on either of her 2 websites: http://www.lesliesansone.com http://www.walkawaythepounds.com On ONE of them, you can download short clips of each of the videos she has, and you can see if you like it or not. If you want any more info on this, let me know! I LOVE talkin' about ! ;o) PS... I walk because 1) it's easy to do... no complicated movements; 2) I can alternate between the 1- and 2-mile walk videos, and I've not gotten bored with it -- I've been using it since March 2005; 3) I know it's good for me -- and I like that I've built up my strength & endurance! The one-mile used to be hard to get through, and now it hardly fizzes me! Now the 2-mile is the sort-of challenge! ;o) ; 4) and her group are funny, so I always end up smiling while I'm walking; 5) they're not all skinny-minnies, so I don't feel huge while watching... ; 6) she uses weights (2-lbs) for 1/2 of the videos, but I can choose to use them or NOT use them...; 7) always says, "Modify it for how YOU need it for today!", so I don't have to go full-out if I don't care to (there's always one lady in the group that does 1/2 range movements). Guest guest
Wow, Vicky! Before i started using Walk Away the Pounds, those numbers wouldn't have meant much to me (I've never been great with distances, etc). But, now... Holy Cow! LOL. I look at my measley 2-mile walk, and compare it to your 25 miles/week -- or more!-- and I think, Oiy! I'd DIE!!! LOL. Guest guest
Actually Jenn, I have a few of 's DVDs also. I love . I haven't used them in a while but I think I might add them back in now. I have tried other instructors and other types of cardio but just don't enjoy them like I do . It's easy to do and I don't feel like I have 2 left feet. I can either listen to her chatter :-) or zone out and just think of other things and still have no problem following along. My very favorite one of her is the Walk Away the Pounds Express 4 mile. Guest guest
I exercise like 4 days a week. I have been working with a trainer once a week. I do it because I want to be fit, not just thin. I love the impact it has on my body, and also on my mood. I am recently off anti-depressants and exercise is a great substitute. My goal is so that there isn't anything I can't do if I want to, and right now there is because my fitness is not optimal. It is much better than it was a few months ago though! > > I haven't read back through all the posts that I've missed so please let me > know if this has been discussed recently. > > Do any of your exercise and if you do, what do you do and do you do it to > burn calories, to be healthier, or just because you enjoy it? Guest guest
Ditto, I try to, as the book says " enjoy the movement of my body " i too used to count the calories but now I'm TRYING to focus on my body movement, I usually close my eyes while on the eliptical and feel the movement. It makes it an experience. > > > > I haven't read back through all the posts that I've missed so > please let me > > know if this has been discussed recently. > > > > Do any of your exercise and if you do, what do you do and do you > do it to > > burn calories, to be healthier, or just because you enjoy it? Guest guest
Great! Glad to find another WAtP-lover! ) They really are the best videos/workouts I've found *for me*. Like you said, you can laugh along with her chatter, or you can zone out. I do that all the time. LOL. As for the Express 4-mile... wow! Congrats! I'm just praying I can work my way up to the 3-mile some time this year! LOL. ;o) jenn <>< exercise? Guest guest
I exercise for the enjoyment. I have been doing mostly walking outside lately because it's been so nice. I do it because it feels good. I don't make it an obligation because then I start feeling resentful.
