I have had the same experience. I think we have to try to get our minds off of the Atkins woe and just do what it says in the book. I am sure brain washed with the Atkins thing tho. Having trouble with the difference in the two, because of the carbs that are allowed. Connie

I've always looked at fat content & sodium content without regard for the carbs! And I've always searched out whole wheat bread items (bread, tortillas). Imagine my surprise to find that what I thought was healthy eating & exercise turned out to be " maintaining " as my doctor put it. Here's to a new start! Guest guest
Even if your husband does not stick with it, try to stick with it yourself. My husband really needs to diet, but so far, he hasn't decided to join me. I figure that if my results get impressive enough that he may be more motivated -- although he loves beer, potatoes, breads, sweets and many things that he would have to eliminate. I am finding that once I'm in the swing of things (after the first week) that I feel so much better on South Beach -- no upset tummy or indigestion! Guest guest
Welcome, Don! Can you tell us a little more about your circumstances? Are you in a car? Can you carry a little cooler with you? Are you eating at restaurants? Newbie Hello AllMy wife and myself have looked at a few diets and we have decided that we are going to go on the South Beach diet in a few weeks. We got The South Beach Diet Cookbook that seems to have alot of recipes in it. After looking at the book though i didnt see many recipes at all for someone who is driving around on the road all day with ones lunch usually in some type of lunch container to keep whatever the lunch is cold. I then thought i would look around on a few web sites and decided to join a few clubs in Yahoo in hopes of getting some ideas what i could take to lunch during the week. One question though about Yahoo groups...There are some clubs that do not allow one to join. And i figured when clicking on the club that i would be allowed to join...Well..I found out that one cannot even join some clubs when you click on it. Interesting....I dont use the Yahoo club option much but i didnt think there were private clubs that do not allow new members.Anyways....Just wanted to signup here since my wife and myself will be on this diet soon and say hello and if someone knows a page or a book or something that has lunch recipes for someone on the road all day please let me know.Don & Reminder: The South Beach Diet is not low-carb. Guest guest
Ah, if you have a cooler, it will be easy! Sandwiches are not the best idea anyway - the bread is not allowed in the two weeks of Ph 1 and could be too much starchy stuff per day in PH 2. Do you have the book? It has some good recipes in it - I usually have leftovers from dinner for lunch. My favorite is the cracked black pepper steak, using chicken instead. Guest guest
Debbie, Welcome to you. The book has a recipe for desserts made with ricotta cheese. Put it in the blender/food processor till it's creamy. I use lots more cocoa and splenda etc than the recipe calls for. Good luck to you. Newbie Hey to All: I just joined this group. I have the book and cookbook, but haven't sat down and read the whole thing yet. I think I am going to start the diet tomorrow. I have a real problem with eating chocolate. Guest guest
Welcome aboard There are a lot of Canadians on this group - and we all know what you mean by product non-availability. While the brand name stuff can be vexing, there are some great Canadian only things around - at good prices. The " Our Complements " natural peanut butter is one example. I think that the challenge of not being able to find brand products forces us to do more label reading and I think that makes us more active and knowledgeable in the food choices. Aren't the new product labels great! All the info you need to make a good choice. BTW - I'd always want to make sure that the Canadian brand is the same as the US brand content-wise. > Hi all, my name is .
