(Jill -Hand) I am on alot but nothing has changed except the increase in oxycontin. I am on oxycontin 60mg 3 times a day with up to 40 mg oxyIR a day. I am also on neurontin, relefen, zoloft, chlorzoxazone, and firocet (periodically) I am kind of stressed but have never experienced this kind of anxiety before and have had reoccuring depression in the past. It is the kind of anxiety you feel before going into surgery. It starts around noon and builds as the day goes on peaking in the evening. If you can give me any insight I would appreciate it. i am going to be seeing psychologist for the first time later this week so don't worry that base will be covered. As usual THANKS! I'm on 13 meds! I'd love to see this. Most of my meds are not common drugs and for different problems ... I don't think I'm double medicated for anything but allergies/asthma. But I'd still like to see it, especially the food interactions. Peggikaye
Guest guest
Jill, Thanks for the interactions. I see two possible problems in the grapefruit juice area. I have been drinking alot of Fresca because it was printed on one of my husband's medications not to drink grapefruit juice. Starting right now I am off the stuff. Thanks for the information answer lady! Sue K
Guest guest
(I would like to see how the Dr. Koop site works too. I'm on some different meds now, but I was on chloroxazone, and I did note some of the symptoms, plus an almost allergic reaction to it. Now I'm switched to Robaxin which seems to do better. It does make me feel a little off, but not too much. I'm also on Talwin NX and Neurontin, and getting off valium (none for the past four days..yay!) and halcion. I do take aspirin to fill some of the gaps when I hurt a lot. Blessings, jDoris
Guest guest
This may be a situation where you are experiencing a conflict of medications....what else are you on? Jill I was wondering if anyone knows if oxycontin can cause anxiety. Ever since they upped my dosed I almost feel like I'm on speed. My Dr keeps asking me if I am too sedated but if anything it's the opposite. Just wondering if anyone has experienced this or even know if it is possible. Maybe I'm just neurotic! LOL! Guest guest
This is the report from Dr. Koop's website: Your Drug Interactions There are 13 interactions for OxyContin , Neurontin , Relafen , Zoloft , chlorzoxazone and Fioricet : 0 severe, 2 medium, and 11 mild (10 are drug/drug interactions , 3 are food/drug interactions). 1. Medium Food Interaction for Zoloft (generic: sertraline) Grapefruit juice may significantly increase the pharmacologic activity of drugs metabolized by CYP3A4. The mechanism is impairment of first-pass metabolism by a grapefruit juice bioflavonoid. It is recommended that patients who are taking drugs metabolized by CYP3A4 avoid grapefruit juice to help prevent adverse effects. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---- 2. Medium Food Interaction for chlorzoxazone (generic: chlorzoxazone) In one small study, patients ingesting the vegetable, watercress were reported to have a 33% increased peak concentration of chlorzoxazone, 52% increased area under the plasma concentration-time curve, and 40% prolonged mean plasma elimination half-life. The oral clearance of chlorzoxazone was reported to have been reduced. Chlorzoxazone is a substrate of CYP2E1. The vegetable, watercress is suspected of being an inducer of CPY2E1. Ingestion of alternative vegetables is recommended for patients receiving chlorzoxazone therapy. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---- 3. Mild Interaction between OxyContin (generic: oxycodone) and Zoloft (generic: sertraline) CNS-depressant and/or respiratory-depressant effects may be additively or synergistically increased in patients taking multiple drugs that cause these effects. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---- 4. Mild Interaction between OxyContin (generic: oxycodone) and chlorzoxazone (generic: chlorzoxazone) CNS-depressant and/or respiratory-depressant effects may be additively or synergistically increased in patients taking multiple drugs that cause these effects. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---- 5. Mild Interaction between OxyContin (generic: oxycodone) and Neurontin (generic: gabapentin) CNS-depressant and/or respiratory-depressant effects may be additively or synergistically increased in patients taking multiple drugs that cause these effects. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---- 6. Mild Interaction between OxyContin (generic: oxycodone) and Fioricet (generic: APAP/butalbital/caffeine) CNS-depressant and/or respiratory-depressant effects may be additively or synergistically increased in patients taking multiple drugs that cause these effects. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---- 7. Mild Interaction between Zoloft (generic: sertraline) and chlorzoxazone (generic: chlorzoxazone) CNS-depressant and/or respiratory-depressant effects may be additively or synergistically increased in patients taking multiple drugs that cause these effects. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---- 8. Mild Interaction between Zoloft (generic: sertraline) and Neurontin (generic: gabapentin) CNS-depressant and/or respiratory-depressant effects may be additively or synergistically increased in patients taking multiple drugs that cause these effects. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---- 9. Mild Interaction between Zoloft (generic: sertraline) and Fioricet (generic: APAP/butalbital/caffeine) CNS-depressant and/or respiratory-depressant effects may be additively or synergistically increased in patients taking multiple drugs that cause these effects. info ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---- 10. Mild Interaction between chlorzoxazone (generic: chlorzoxazone) and Neurontin (generic: gabapentin) CNS-depressant and/or respiratory-depressant effects may be additively or synergistically increased in patients taking multiple drugs that cause these effects. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---- 11. Mild Interaction between chlorzoxazone (generic: chlorzoxazone) and Fioricet (generic: APAP/butalbital/caffeine) CNS-depressant and/or respiratory-depressant effects may be additively or synergistically increased in patients taking multiple drugs that cause these effects. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---- 12. Mild Interaction between Neurontin (generic: gabapentin) and Fioricet (generic: APAP/butalbital/caffeine) CNS-depressant and/or respiratory-depressant effects may be additively or synergistically increased in patients taking multiple drugs that cause these effects. ------------------------------------------------------ 13. Mild Food Interaction for Fioricet (generic: APAP/butalbital/caffeine) This Interaction is due to caffeine which is a component of Fioricet. The effect of grapefruit juice on the pharmacologic activity of caffeine is controversial. One report suggests that grapefruit juice increases the effect of caffeine. The proposed mechanism is inhibition of cytochrome P-450 metabolism of caffeine. However, a well-conducted pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic study did not demonstrate this effect. The clinical significance of this potential interaction is unknown.
Guest guest
I just found your email on Oxycontin. I just had this conversation with my head doc over Neurontin, and he thinks it must be the 'water'. LOL
