Guest guest
Joyce ... do you have dog? Or could you borrow a neighbor's outside dog? I grew up in the mountains and all our neighbors without dogs had trouble with racoons, we didn't. We had dogs. Maybe if you could tie the dog up outside near where the racoons are causing the trouble, they'd learn to be afraid of your yard? Guest guest
Two nights in a row a raccoon has come up on my gated deck and dug its way through my window boxes and plants then for good measure left a pile of excrement on my steps. I caught it in the act the first night. I do not have the energy to go all over my deck and furniture with antibacterial stuff every day. The first clean up took over 2 hours and $15 of cleaning supplies ANy ideas how to get rid of them? I cannot imagine what is of any interest to them. I called Natural Resources and the Town and each told me to call the other. Neither claims any responsibility for dealing with wildlife that has been allowed t o exist in town that belong out in the woods somewhere. Thx Joyce
Guest guest
Unfortunately Joyce, there may be little you can do right now other than to bring in your furniture and window boxes for the winter. Perhaps after a long and cold winter they will forget about these activities and move on.... Jill

Do you have any neighbors that could help you out? Have you tried " blasting " the raccoons with really loud music? Try doing a search on Google on how to get rid of racoons successfully. Or you could call the humane society (if there is one) and say that they are " foaming at the mouth " ..... Maybe that would generate some attention and help! Guest guest
Hi bonnie, I really dont know much about raccoons (we dont have them here!) but thinking of critters in general....is there some sort of smell you can put around your garden beds that will make it want to go elsewhere? How about Cayenne Pepper or something else equally fine and unpleasant to sniff? Love Glenda Re: racoon help Re: racoon help > Unfortunately Joyce, there may be little you can do right now other than to > bring in your furniture and window boxes for the winter. Guest guest
How about a high powered water pistol the kind the kids used a few years ago. Take Aim and fire. A few nights of this may be enough to discourage it from returning. Love and hugs, Lilian
