Lori,

I love the star-kist tuna kits that come with tuna, low cal/fat mayo and low

fat crackers, it even has the mixing spoon. It is high in protein and low

in everything else. I eat one daily for lunnch and always make sure I eat

all of the tuna even if I can't eat the crackers. The other thing I love to

do is marinate chicken strips and grill them. They are easily packed,

travel well and are yummy as a snack or as part of a meal. My last idea is

cheese cubes.......you know the Kraft ones and fat free pretzels. HOpe this

helps.

Carla's sister in VA.

First, thanks to all for the words of encouragement over the weekend. I

was so close to that 100 lb milestone, and I've since put on 2-3 lbs due

probably to muscle. Hey, I'm not complaining. I'll take the muscle!

DAWN: I keep thinking about those t-shirts .... trying to come up with

something catchy. I can be pretty ballsy, so mine might read something

like, " You think I'm fat NOW, you should have seen me (however many)

pounds ago! " .

NWH MTG: I'll be there with bells (and some semblance of a nametag) on,

come hell or high water. It's always great to see the new and old

(thinner!) face. I think I'm finally able to let go of some clothes

that I'm trying to convince myself I'll never wear again. Even so, my

actual clothing size hasn't changed much despite the loss (figure that

one out), so there isn't that much, but still . . . 'hope someone out

there can use those big sizes.

PROTEIN: I'm in need of meal ideas that are quick, easy, on-the-road

fare. Shrimp is the best, easiest thing around, as far as I'm

concerned, but I need something new. It's far too easy to reach for

some crackers for at least part of a meal. Anyone?

EXERCISE: If I have to do another aerobic tape, I'll scream. Sick to

death of 'em. I'm walking now, a fast 2 miles, not quite every day. If

I go at a normal pace I can do 3, but I hardly ever have TIME to walk

three miles with my little guy. He's too big for the stroller (although

I stuff him in when he'll let me), and as it is, I resort to bribery on

a daily basis. In response to the question regarding the motivation to

exercise after surgery vs before, I think there are two factors:

1) You'll be losing weight quickly enough to notice a difference in

your stamina soon into your regimen; and

3) As the weight comes off, you get psyched to see it come off faster.

Not to mention the bonus energy.

For me, the endorphine rush has always been worth a workout. It's nice

to be at a weight again that allows me to work out without a great deal

of joint pain (anyone using that Glucosamine stuff???). Still, I don't

enjoy it enough. I'm looking for the perfect medium, perhaps. Also,

it's probably worth noting that I'm one of those people who HAVE to

exercise for the weight to come off at a " normal " rate for someone my

size. Yeah, I know, there's no " normal " , but you know what I mean. I

tell myself that I've been given this window, and I need to do

everything I can to take advantage of it while it lasts.

As usual, this has become far too long. See some of you guys tomorrow!

Love,

Lori
