Guest guest
Barb- Is visual motor integration the same as visual processing? Maybe a type of visual processing? I have a book titled " Helping Children Overcome Learning Difficulties " written by Jerome Rosner. He is a pediatric optometrist that became interested in the link between vision problems (specifically far-sightedness) and learning difficulties. Anyway, I have heard him speak (he used to be at the University of Pittsburgh and now works out of a clinic at the Univ. of Houston) and his books gives practical suggestions on what you can do at home to improve visual processing skills in children....e.g. specific geoboard activities. The book also covers improving language skills. The book is very straightforward and gives specific activities to do to improve skills and I have found it very helpful. I haven't started the activities yet w/ my child so I can't tell you yet if they work! My daughter has visual processing problems as well. Another resource for you would be to call a local pediatric opthomologist/optometrist and ask them if they have anyone who does vision therapy. Good luck, Sally
