Guest guest
Hey , You are certainly not alone...I went out for my last italian dinner, my last mexican dinner and my last mudslide night the week before I went in the hospital....but...I am finding out now....except for the mudslides..I will be able to eat those foods...I didnt have to go mourne a binge...I just wont be able to eat the quantities that I had before... Maybe someday I'll be able to have a mudslide again...just not 5 or 6 of them....and not for a little while... You are not alone...just becarefull not to binge...the drs have told us..the first thing that gains fat is your liver....and if you binge too much your liver will be in the way and they wont be able to complete the surgery...they will just close you up...and what a depressing thought that would be...coming home from the hospital the same way you went in...but now with a big scar.......!!! Guest guest
I'm doing the same thing. Hi my name is Phil. I'm having my surgery at MGH on 3/3/00. Dr. Randall is doing it. Ever since I got my date, I've been having trouble staying on track. He wants me to lose 20#. I don't think I'll make it. It could be worse. I'm trying as hard as I can. I really like this list. I need all the support that I can get. It seems that you folks are great. Thanks, Phil checkout my WLS web site. http://www.adamsphotos.com/wls.htm At 10:18 PM 2/14/2000 -0500, you wrote: >From: JoesRavyn@... > >Hi all you post-ops! > >I was just wondering if any of you ran into the same problem I seem to be >having pre-op....now that I know everything is going to happen, and soon, I >feel like I should eat things that I know I won't be able to have " on the >other side " ...am I strange or have others gone through this as well?? > >Thanks for responding. > in MA
Guest guest
, You are no stranger than most of us...we all had to have " final " meals...and I do mean meals. I had to taste everything that I would never have again after the surgery...big fool me, I've tasted those same things since the surgery. Some are appealing, some are not, yeah!! Best of luck, Annie
Guest guest
, I went through this. I ate lots of ice cream! Don't feel bad, just be careful not to overdo it! You don't want a fatty liver, if they find one when they open you up, they won't do the surgery. Guest guest
Hey Phil, What I did to help me lose my weight in the begininning, was to add more water, cut out my sweets (Little Debbie and I were best bud's), and just have 1 serving on a smaller dinner plate for my meals. This way I wasn't depriving mysefl of anything, and still felt like I ate my entire plate's worth, and it seemed to help me out. See you at Dr. R's meeting tmrw nite! Guest guest
Yes and No. I wanted to have those things but felt that I needed to start eating right because I would need to after. My dr. wouldn't do the surgery if we gained weight -- required us to lose -- there wasn't anything going to stop me from having the surgery so I watched it. And don't fret -- you'll be able to eat most anything once you get post-op some -- just much smaller quantities. Guest guest
Phil -- just take is one day, one hour, one minute at a time. All the foods you love will be there post-op and you'll truly enjoy them, in small quantities. It is good to try and lose something so that your liver can lose some fat. But, don't fret about it, or as we all know, you'll end up sending the scale the other way! Hugz, Sandy in MA Phil wrote: > > > I'm doing the same thing. Hi my name is Phil. Guest guest
I haven't heard that but I had upper/lower and genio done last July and my main reason was my TMJ disorder- I literally could not eat certain foods. I was on a soft food diet due to unable to open my mouth. I must say it did get worse while in braces because of the bite being moved for surgery but now I have no problems whatso ever. I just got my braces off last week. My TMJ feel great I am able to eat BAGELS STEAK etc, where I never did before in a very very long time. I saw my dentist yesterday and they found a couple of chipped teet and my back tooth has a superficial crack-- not sure if it was related to surgery or braces for 3 yrs. any ? just ask > Has anyone ever heard of TMJ disorder getting better with > orthodontics? Guest guest
, that's so good to hear! many of us are having TMJ problems and are afraid that the surgery either won't help or might even *gasp* make it worse. Cheryl
