Guest guest
My hearing daughter is 11 and going thru the same thing. I havent experienced too much backtalk just basic laziness and a developing hearing, or lack of, problem. Are you in Calif by chance? If so I know of a good child psychologist who signs - you wouldnt need a terp. I can't help you much on the laws for counseling. Maybe you and she just need a week apart? With summer coming can she go to the grandparents for a while? A change of scenery could help more than you know. good luck mary > >Reply-To: Listen-Upegroups >To: <Listen-Upegroups> >CC: >Subject: Raising a teen??? >Date: Mon, 22 May 2000 14:14:33 -0600 > >Hello Friends, >I feel like I really need some advice....my daughter who is 10 and has had >the N24 for 1 year now....and is doing wonderful with her implant...BUT her >and I argue about everything. Guest guest
Hello Friends, I feel like I really need some advice....my daughter who is 10 and has had the N24 for 1 year now....and is doing wonderful with her implant...BUT her and I argue about everything. I think her hormones are kicking in...but no matter what I say her attitude is terrible, no matter how much I ground her or take things away it gets so out of hand..... So I decided to seek counseling....for her and me...I need to learn how to deal with a teen...I'm not ready. Anyway I called a counseling center and to say the least I was turned down by the center because they said they couldn't help my daughter because she was deaf and I requested an interpreter..///// I was so furious but know I will be pursuing this situation further...after I get my daughter and myself situated in counseling somewhere else....I phone her pediatrician and am waiting for a referral somewhere. Does anyone have any book recommendations or things that have worked raising a deaf teen girl to be more specific....It's getting so bad I don't want to be around her and vice versa....I feel terrible even saying that....Please help if you can. Thank you in advance. Debbie
