Guest guest
lol I have the same issue. There is no " just one. " If there is a bowl of candy, I will literally sneak candy out of it. Kinda like if no one sees me working out at the gym, I'm not fat. If no one sees me with the candy, then I'm not really eating it. If only that were true! K > Diane > > With me it is about the food. I really really enjoy eating the > sweets. I don't feel like there is a under lining reason of why I > like to munch except that it is yummy and I love it. So I have to > stay away from it all together. I understand about the " free > food " ! I think every work place has that. How annoying are those > skinny people who say " One won't hurt you " . They really don't > understand that I can't stop at one. Good luck with the struggle. > We can do it!!!! > >

Guest guest
Hi All-- Please read below my email for Bethany's... Bethany--you sent your email just to the moderators instead of the whole group, so I'm forwarding it to the group. You know, intuitive eating is VERY SIMPLE...only eat when you are hungry, stop when you are satisfied. What intuitive eating is not is EASY!!! For me, eating too much never has anything to do with the food...it is all about emotions and all the stuff that goes along with those. Whether I am angry, or feeling unloved, or disappointed--emotions are emotions. Somewhere down the road I got the idea that eating because of those emotions was OKAY. It's not. So, my answer to you is to find an alternative to eating when you are bored...read a book, take a bath, watch a movie, call a friend, go for a walk. There are millions of things we can do instead of eating--but once we have the idea to eat, everything else goes right out the window. Make a list, keep it close by, when you want to eat when you're not hungry, go over the list. Put things on the list you really enjoy doing--otherwise nothing will ever trump the urge to eat. Eating only when I'm hungry and stopping when I'm satisfied is the MOST freeing thing I've ever done. I do not always do it perfectly. But, I'm really not striving for perfect anymore. Guest guest
It sounds like you are already on the right track by recognizing that you are not really hungry right then but just wanting the foods. Next step is to examine why you are wanting it, if it is not physiological hunger then are you lonely? bored? sad? depressed?, figure it out, write it down if necessary and then feel the emotion rather than stuffing it down and drowning it out with food. Find alternatives when bored. But you have made a HUGE step just stopping and saying hey! I am not hungry physiologically right now, why am I wanting to eat? Binge eating comes about from not being able to stop at that first desire to eat and ask if we really are hungry or not. However, remember if you are physiologically hungry and you are craving the food, you must legalize it otherwise it will always have a mysterious allure to you. You will be suprised how foods you thought you desired really are not worthy of your tastebuds and how after a bit your body starts telling you to choose that apple of the nachos. Guest guest
The only thing that I can do when this happens to me is ask myself why I want to eat. Am I really hungry? If I am not really hungry then I get my mind on something else and I ask God to help me forget about the food.
